8 minutes of roadkilling on muttrah, and only 9 people EVER shot at you...

That has got to be, one of the worst US teams, i have ever born witness too :?

Driver crashed several times RIGHT NEXT TO THEM, what do they do? open fire? NOPE!
Pull out a pistol? DERP! Pull out a LAT? DERP!

The point was made earlier by some one else, "Only the stupid get roadkilled"

Can i guess what server it was on?

Get run over it's your fault. So that's your problem. A decent SAW could shoot out the driver without a problem. Should always be the last one to cross and should always be covering the squad when they move.

Thats all right in theory, but with the short hearing distance coupled with the speed of a humvee or a civilian car they can sneak up on you pretty well.

I think it depends on the situation. If someone goes around and systematically runs people over it's just unrealistic and lame, but if it's used as a last ditch effort to save your squad for example, I can see it justified.

However, since it's basically impossible to investigate every single roadkill on a server, I think a general no roadkilling rule is the best option.

Another argument against it is that the dodgy hit reg in BF2 sometimes makes it extremely hard to hit the driver in a moving vehicle, especially if you have a ping over 100.

What if we made it so that the car tires did not have collision, so if a car comes you can just prone under it. i think i remember being able to crawl under a tank in vbf2 but im not completely sure.

It is wrong for two reasons.

1)Its lame
2)Its exploitative of the game mechanics.

A few weeks back two guys in a logi had 5 attempts at running me over. In real life they would have had one. When they ploughed into the wall at 50MPH in their initial attempt to crush me, the logi truck would in all probability have been rendered inoperable, that is not to mention that the logi truck contained 2 regular flesh and blood humans and not 2 Cyberdyne Systems T800's. If by some remarkable coincidence the driver remained capable of conscious thought, he would not have been in any fit condition to chase me and try the same trick a further 4 times. For those saying just shoot the driver out, that is pretty damn difficult if the only direction you are able to dodge in is to the right. It took me to the 5th ram attempt before I was able to kill his passenger and injure him enough to make him leave, and I am no slouch in CQC (having to dive prone each time and reset my deviation probably played its role). Same thing on insurgency mode, yes driving a motor bike into a person would in all probability kill that person, it would also in disconnect the driver from the motor bike in a rather spectacular fashion, in all probability killing him aswell. A civy car attempting to mount a curb to attempt a Gorranga GTA style multi kill would loose operability of its front wheels and ability to turn just from the curb mounting, never mind the damage inflicted for each person it hit.

If PR was able to implement a realistic vehicle and occupant damage system, then I would not consider this exploitative, but as they cant, it is. Something that would probably help reduce this behaviour is if the weapon draw time for passengers in vehicles was reduced on disembarking.

Will obey if it is a server rule, because well, its a rule. However I may have backed into a few people in a tank sometimes. Reverse gear must have stuck and mirrors were not adjusted :p

In armoured vehicles it's fine - The issue here is with light skinned 'vulnerable' vehicles being used as battering rams because it's nigh on impossible to kill the occupants.

Out of interest, why is it not possible to put the entire damage model as 'glass' and make it all penetrable? I'd rather have that and make them VERY vulnerable than it is at the moment with the opposite as it is atm.

I'm presuming it's something to do with terrain causing too much damage though, and I also know the devs will have done their hardest to fix it already.

In my opinion its only realy a problem with the trucks due to the angle your firing at the occupants, their elevated position makes the angle very tight, where as with cars you are basicly firing straight through the passanger compartment.

If it is the only option and it wont damage your vehicle to much then go for it. His fault for being in the middle of the road. Unless we are talking friendlies then no

Don't see what's wrong with it. The game engine allows it so it's fair game.

Light vehicles, like haji trucks? Not cool. Heavy vehicles, like tanks? Acceptable.

In my opinion it make the squad have to stay on guard, also its not like you can just change it so when there hit they bonce off mean really thats 10x more unrealistic then a guy being run over. Beside your squad shouldn't be running in the open without any support, or an exit route. And it is a HMV and you guys who are like AT 50 MPH YOU WOULD....
1. Its a HmV it bullet proof, there made to take hits
2. NO BODY is going to be driveing 50 MPH though citys, and if your in the field you have time to shoot the driver out or doge AND whoever says it almost impossible to shoot people out learn to aim.

Weather you like it or not its a choice your mostlikey are going to have to live with.

Though if there was something like your windshield breaks if you hit them then that would be cool.

I don't like roadkilling in the sense of people driving around for the pure sake of driving people over. That's just silly, and for me, being a person who likes to squeeze out as much immersion and realism from this game as is possible. It sucks to be on the recieving end, and in spirit of what an amazingly empathic gamer I happen to be :-P , I try to make the game fun even for my enemies.
I'll switch team to the losers to help them if the teams are unbalanced. I personally think that doing these kinds of things makes the game much more fun for everyone.

What I do however agree with to a certain extent is the 'man suddenly jumps out in the middle of the road and gets run over' situation. Sometimes, that's just inevitable.
Swado95 wrote:...AND whoever says it almost impossible to shoot people out learn to aim.
Okay. But what about the fact that you actually can't shoot them out, since the windshield and side window glass of a Humvee in PR is inpenetrable?

Don't see what's wrong with it. The game engine allows it so it's fair game.
The game engine also allows someone to spawn inside a building and setup invisible and inside an impentrable barrier with a SAW, or log onto other computer on the other team. Both of which are rightly bannable offences on all servers. A 2 min kick for multiple ram attempts seems more than fair given how unrealistic and exploitative of game mechanics it is.
Beside your squad shouldn't be running in the open without any support, or an exit route.
And on the open desert maps? Fine, you can hear the tanks and APCs for 1.5 kilometers away, but a one manned Avenger can be on top of you in seconds and is a tough shot for an AT if its zig zagging. Hardly seems reasnable or in the spirit of the game to have a whole squad wiped out by one guy doing dohnuts in the desert.

ONLY on the Crows Humvee

And if your being roadkilled by a Crows, thank your lucky stars its not being used in a meaningful manner...

(also, shoot below the side-window glass... bullets will go through and kill occupants, or USE AN RKG)

Mean yes I dont believe people should just go around the map running over people just because you can... Yet I do think its feasible if you see a squad or a guy running down the street to try and run him down, and for saying its unfair that the guy gets run over... its not since he can do the same thing, mabey unfair if only one team can do it.

There might be less running over if the map was smoothed a little and you could get off a clean shot.

Also to avoid people just going out to to run over people, I think for almost all vehicles excluding civi car, bike, heils, and planes, that all other vehicles need at least one other person in the car to be able to use.

well my point is that- unless you're right in front of me, I will just drive by.
I don't see the reason to remove RK entirely because when I was leading my squad once (inside a transport car) the driver got killed when we tried to drive past a squad, and I managed to change seats, and keep driving the truck, which apparently killed the SAW gunner firing at us 5m away...
