50m killing range of a full choked combat shotgn and you better not get hit anywhere near the face or you're toast. Even with body armor, the shotty is still going to do serious damage to perepherals due to the combat load its packing. At 50 meters with full choke and no armor, it'd be hard to negate a one-shot kill ability on a good solid hit. Imagine Ghost Train jungle with good shotguns! lol, oh man someone would be in trouble.

GAYYYYYY shotgun would be alot better for close up maps like MAO and basarah and stuff. shotgun would be much better in a close/medium far situation. if i saw you in a back ally i would much rather you have a rifle and i have a shotgun because in the end you would be dead and missing important parts.

No, i dont even see special forces units using them in a pro active threat engagement.*2Recon* wrote:Just a quick question..does the USMC or US army for example actually use shotguns in combat situations. I know its used to bring down doors etc. in urban
combat but other that that is it acually used as a primary weapon by someone?
The shotgun is nothing more than a gimmick to be honest, it shouldnt be there anyway, shotguns are primarily used to breach doors at the moment and considering the weapon isnt designed for breaching (too powerful round), and the fact there arent any doors to actually breach i say just get rid of them, give the engineers a rifle, id rather have an engineer whos going to be useful in combat than an engineer whos useless in combat.

Special forces uses shotguns. It may not be widespread but it is there and I think growing in popularity in the regular military as well due to high CQB in modern combat situations (IE. house clearing).

Dude, why hate on the shotty man? Its such an awesome weapon! I think if they fixed it to make it realistic, you'd be liking it too!

I dislike the shotty because in current warfare its pointless, plus the game has them tuned so that i can spit further than they can fire.
The whole reason the M14 was brought slowly back into units was because range had increased, and thats exactly my point, they arent widely used, so why keep them in the game?
This is meant to be a Reality mod, my belief of that is getting close to reality without destroying gameplay, taking the shogun out and replacing it with a rifle (like some of the maps have now done) seems a logical solution.
