I think Hamyong included another combat scanario to the game, but is never the less quite unbalanced.

Pheonix was like a bad EJOD to me. Also very unbalanced.

...mongol...

Well, Hamyong has allready been removed permanently from the TG maplist just because of the unbalanced nature of the map. So yeah, I would either remove the map, or change it so that the USMC have a better way to attack (give some armor maybe).

the map itself is brilliant (trenches, pillboxes etc), but the gameply over it is just..well...tiring
I agree.

Replace it with Helmand, imo. But tbh there are better Afghanistan maps in development... WAY BETTER!!! that chinese map sucked...(sorry but it does)...We have a couple of good chinese maps now, OGT, sunset, and Qinlinglinglingling, and they should defenitly stay, there are to the best of my knowlage some pretty amasing chinese maps on there way, so dont worry, teh deviez has everythin under cuntr0lz :P

It should go because it feels different than most of the maps ? I feel not. In warfare you dont always have nice and clean conflicts, oftentimes you have battles that turn into total mayhem at times, think of Stalingrad. I new a returner and during infight in buildings he consecutively emptied like 5 mags on full auto from his submachine gun.
Of course thesedays commanders do not try to get rid of surplus population while fighting a war stalin style but sometimes set ups happen that are destined to become mayhem. You dont have to go as far back as the mother of all uber fragfests the eastern front was, the map reminds me somwhat of Hamburger Hill.

Many mentioned balanced problems. I must say only time the American team looses bad is if the single squads are uncoordinated, personally with lots of smoke at the start and concentrated effort we took the first flags quite quickly. Win lose was about 50 50 for me on the American team.

In my opinion, ways to make hamyong playable:

1) Move back USMC spawn, out of view distance of the main chinese hill and flags.

2) Bring back artillery for the USMC, at least until the 3 hilltop flags are captured. Nothing more awesome than that arty.

3) Open up the map a bit, or reduce the distance for rallies so rallies can be made.

That imo fixes the main problems. :)

(give some armor maybe).
Lol, where would you put the armour? :p

Hills of hamgyong will be removed for v0.8. It no longer fits the gamestyle of PR, and the main problem with it its small engagement size.

The map was well designed, and did offer a very unique experience. Personally I found the forest area to be geniuos, especially the little foxholes area.

So this map will be removed as PR evolves into its next form, much like Muttrah City v1 was removed.

In the future, maybe Nikov will return to make a Hills of Hamgyong 2, on a much larger scale with brand new statics.

I think this discussion has run its course. Thread Locked.
