Re: Road-killing - Your Opinion
If 90% of the squads i passed would not shoot at my, I would not swerve to hit them. I have never driven past a squad of nme that have not fired at me, No matter where im driving, If im on the same road, They shoot at me, So instead of giving them free righen i drive at them and frighten them to cover.
If they dont shoot at me, I dont hit them. (unless they are in the middle of the road)
Thats my thoughts

I understand the anti road killing sentiment, but if i see an rpg in front of my vehicle taking aim at me, that guy's going down! No time for questions.

I also would like to add that in real life, there is a phsycological effect of running someone over, I have never ran anyone over myself, but the thought of the person flying on your hood, and the body tumbling, the blood, everything, it has an impact on you

Meet ArmA2, where if you try that and happen to hit a wall/pole/etc., you'll most likely end up with a wheel less and immobilized or outright dead if you were driving too fast.

Killing is killing, it makes no difference how you do it, only that you do.

Re: Road-killing - Your Opinion
If my gunner is dead and I see an enemy infront of me while driving a humvee/WMIK/Techiie etc. I'll run them over, however if I'm driving an APC/Tank I'll only run people who are close to me over because it's easier than reversing enough for the turret to hit them, especially in a tank.
Setting off thinking "I Am going to run people over" which I see alot with technicals is not acceptable, however just doing it while driving is, because lets face t - it'd be easier to shoot them with a gunner anyway.

Perhaps the solution is to make vehicles much more slidey when using the shift boost or something

Some kind of balance like that.[R-DEV]Rudd wrote:Perhaps the solution is to make vehicles much more slidey when using the shift boost or something
It's war; you kill the enemy however you can. The problem isn't roadkill per se. It's the mechanics of the game: You can't swivel your head. Sound IRL is 3D, not stereo. IRL, if a vehicle runs into a wall or a tree, then it's gonna be disabled. All of this makes the gameplay imbalanced in favor of the vehicle.

Re: Road-killing - Your Opinion
I don't mind roadkilling.
Can't remember ever being roadkilled in this game, so if you find yourself being roadkilled on a regular basis then perhaps you should change the way you move around.
It's a game after all, and I can imagine it's fun to run over players standing in the open with a big "hit me" sign on them.

Re: Road-killing - Your Opinion
I dislike road killing... It defeats the point of someone trying to lie in wait for an ambush, if the driver can just turn and drive at them.
Also, I can image shooting a gun is much more detached, than driving someone over, your most likely never half as close as you'll be when a person rolls over your windscreen, or the bump you feel as you drive over them..Total_Overkill wrote:Compared to what? I hate it so much. Although it would be very tempting it's just plain annoying and not too realistic, but it's something which can never be controlled unfortunately.

I dont think you should be hit honestly. If your paying attention to your environments IE looking both ways before you cross and having a squad have a good 360 coverage NO Vehicle should be able to get the drop on you.
Tho the other day I was taking fire and swerved into an ally way and ran over a full nme squad before I realized it on Karbala so I understand how that doesnt always work.

i get really pissed off when some retard decides to waste on of thier teams logis just to run people over. i mean like why the fuck would you do that. i never walk in the middle of the road unless supported by and apc or tank and i will be behind said asset, but most people still take the time to swerve to the side of the road to ram people, they will even atempt multiple times till either you getaway or they run you over.

I think one way this could be improved is just make cars louder. It would be more realistic since the vehicles in this game seem silent and also give more time to react.
Don't waste 30min looking for a topic from 3 years ago to say its been mentioned b4....

Re: Road-killing - Your Opinion
I'd keep it simple and say, if the dude is a direct threat to you or your car, run it over, but let's face it, I don't think many soldiers get HMMVVs and start ramming off insurgents crossing the road...

lol @ all the hardcore sim nuts who keep saying 'war is war' or 'in war you kill people however you can'.
This is about running people over with cars in BF2, I think the unqualified opinions on 'war is hell' should be left at the local pub for young and easily impressionable listeners..

Its just such an easy way to kill people. Even if you are watching 360 and moving as a squad you can still get owned.
