Losing connection to server

Hello.
Ever since I patched up .96 I get connection problems to every server.

I believe this is client-side, and multiple players confirmed that they too have this issue.

This happens on every first run of the game. By first run I mean windows restarted.

Usually it happens after the map finished loading but sometimes it is delayed 1-5 minutes in which case the whole screen freezes (no "Your connection to the server has been lost") and you get sent to the server list with the message "Your connection to the server has been lost".

When I quit PR I get the message "ERROR: Unable to open BF2 process" in a window.


I found a workaround to this issue by restarting PR but there is no guarantee that it will work the second time.

This very much hampers my ability to man vehicles and is outright frustrating at times.

I would appreciate any help on the matter.

PS: I have .95>.96 patch. Win 7 32bit no admin or compatibility used because of memory leaks.

Have you, for testing purposes, tried if running as Admin and/or compatiblity settings fix it?

Can you determine which process this actual error window belongs to? E.g. by using "Process Explorer".

Have you tried running in windowed mode yet?

Strange now I tried troubleshooting and diagnosing what was happening and I can't recreate the connection drop. Seems like the PR gods have had their fun toying with me

Only thing I did was defrag the C partition and boot time defrag with raxco perfect disk.

Will get back to you if I manage to recreate it.
