What is the point of Mumble?

I can't find a point to it...

I think VOIP would of course be better...
but why is everyone using it? I find it very confusing.
Someone help and tell me the goods and bads about it.

I think its explained there...

vbf2 voip lets you talk to the squad members, and the commander if you are an SL

mumble lets you speak to anyone within around 70m ingame
