Mumble Cheaters?

Post by mattnett1 »

Ok... I find this big in PR now... Its getting VERY annoying.

People from the other team are 'eavesdropping' into our team's mumble chat.

Is there one way to fix this? Because I find it abusive and very annoying... Especially when they get into your squad leader chat then its dumb.

Does anyone else run into this issue?

Everytime on =HOG=, TAR, and like 10% of the time Tact Gamer, I run into these.

Only saw this once on tacticalgamer, guy got banned within 5 minutes

this kind of cheating has always existed, on teamspeak and even ingame with intentional teamswitching to see enemy positions.

The only answer - vigilant admins

report it to admins and they will deal with it

Yah... but of course =HOG= and TAR admins are just plain stupid. They don't ban for that. They ban because you killed them.

Tactical Gamer though, their admins will help and do what ever to make it good.

Well, only good administration can help there, I guess. People actually caught not only happening to be in the wrong channel on accident, but effectively sharing information, they should simply be perma-banned from all Mumble servers.

Edit: Sorry :(
Had this window open for too long, so I got snail-ninja'd.

I don't really have any idea of how many people use mumble to cheat but I have experienced quite a few times that people that are being auto team-swapped on insurgency maps cant keep there mouth shut and explain where the next cache is. So i recon the same type of people would stay in the wrong mumble channel just to do some eavesdropping.

My paranoia makes me double check who is in the SL channel before I say something that can be used against our team.

I always explain tactics with in-game Voip and I try to avoid using keypad references when talking locally. (it only takes 1 unlinked enemy to screw up your plan)

Some players just don't know how to play fair and will use all means to win the game I guess.

The day when mumble channels are controlled by scrips that moves players in the right channels and kicks people who don't belong there ill be talking freely.
As far as i know this is almost impossible to script as it is now though.

1 channel systems punishes the players who use mumble for talking and rewards the ones that only uses VOIP.

1 channel would be good if VOIP was disabled but then again....players would just use other services like Ventrilo or teamspeak to be "silent"

1 channel servers are fun for 5 min....then it becomes annoying tbh

Don't matter what system is in place it will be abused tbh. Think of it as like real life intelligence/counter intelligence gathering there will always be spy's :p

The admins banned me for 3 days... why? I killed them. (They were enemies)
And then mumble cheaters were like: Guys, lets just attack at like A4 KP6

I have yet to notice any apparent Mumble eavesdropping in my almost 3 years of playing PR.
Lots of team-switch ghosting, though.

It is when you switch team and tell your new team about 'enemy' movement, positions, where caches are, etc.
