v0.97 installer goes unresponsive on "patching files"
I tried both torrenting the file & just downloading it, and it runs through everything, only when it gets to the part where it patches files, it just hangs there completely unresponsive. I know that the installer says it might appear unresponsive, but I've had it running for an hour now and it hasn't moved.
Any solutions?

I had the same problem.
Just run "pr_0966_to_0973_patch_setup.exe" in safe mode - it helped me.

Re: v0.97 installer goes unresponsive on "patching files"
Just tried doing this, but to no avail. I just restarted my computer & went into safe mode & then did it, is there any way to run just that file in safe mode without putting the entire computer into safe mode?qwert wrote:I had the same problem.

I have the same problem. The installer seems bugge somehow. I had this with the patch to .966 as well but there I just reinstalled and did not use the patch instead.
It seems to be the way the patch installer works.

Did you completely reinstall BF2 & PR or did you just reinstall PR?Serbiak wrote:I have the same problem. The installer seems bugge somehow. I had this with the patch to .966 as well but there I just reinstalled and did not use the patch instead.

Re: v0.97 installer goes unresponsive on "patching files"
I thought I got it to work but at the end when it comes to the actual patching progress it did not do anything for hours...
I changed the properties to let him run in the combatibilitymode of win 2000 and it seems to work as long as you keep the window active.
At first I had this error at the very end of the installation. But then I deleted the file manually and let him try again.

Like this the installation worked further then normal.
I am just going to download the 3 complete parts for .97 and hope it will work. But you guys really have to change something with those patch files, they are messed up somehow.

I only reinstalled Pr but for the last version .966 it worked perfectly for me.tommytgun wrote:Did you completely reinstall BF2 & PR or did you just reinstall PR?

Re: v0.97 installer goes unresponsive on "patching files"
It worked for me like this:
Don't patch the version, download the 3 full parts.
Deinstall only Pr (not Bf2)
install Pr. And it works

Re: v0.97 installer goes unresponsive on "patching files"
I had this problem on 0.966 and 0.97 patches.
Change priority for both installation process .exe and .tmp ( i can't remember what priority set for it, mb .exe higher and .tmp lower) ans 7z.exe when "patching files" window appears (higher then .tmp).
Just try to change priority somehow, mb you'll be lucky

If you are using Google Chrome that may be causing the problem - use firefox.
Chrome sometimes corrupts the files

Re: v0.97 installer goes unresponsive on "patching files"
Tevervin I did not figure out what you meant. How do you set a priority of an .exe file with nothing else running?
And yeah I had the same problem on the 0.966 and 0.97 patches as well. I got it to work like I explained earlier.

I use torrent hence no corrupt files.sr.bambino wrote:Chrome sometimes corrupts the files

Re: v0.97 installer goes unresponsive on "patching files"
Ctrl+Alt+Delete, then "processes" tab, seach pr_0966_to_0973_patch_setup.exe and pr_0966_to_0973_patch_setup.tmp in list. There be these processes on start of patch installation. To change priority click on process by right mouse button then select priority.

Wow crazy bro. How did you figure that out? Well I cannot try anymore because I reinstalled the whole 3 parts already.
But please tell me if it works for any of you as well.

I have the same problem. I guess I will uninstall and download the whole thing instead of using the shorter download.

I run XP and didn't have any problems... Have you installed all the updates for XP? Especially the framework updates?

well sp 3 for sure. Not quite as sure for the framework ones. Do you know an easy way to check?

Re: v0.97 installer goes unresponsive on "patching files"
I had this problem when installing 0.966 and 0.973. On 0.966 I just quit the patch update and tried the newly appeared PR.0966 shortcut and the game worked flawlessly. On 0.973 however, I just quit the patch program and restarted it. Then it worked.

Re: v0.97 installer goes unresponsive on "patching files"
The same thing happened to me. I tried installing .973 a few times and it kept going unresponsive and using up all of my computers resources. I gave up. Then the next day I clicked on the .973 desktop shortcut out of curiosity and the game worked flawlessly.Lajning wrote:I had this problem when installing 0.966 and 0.973. If anyone experiences this unresponsive situation when the downloader starts patching files do try clicking on the .973 icon to see if the game is working.
