Black Objects (Emplacements, ammo, crates, etc.)

Post by BoZo_135 »

I know I have seen a post regarding this bug/glitch somewhere before, and how to fix it, but I couldn't find it by searching the forums.

What happens is that all ammo crates, supply crates, and FOB emplacements appear as solid black objects; with the exception of mortar tubes. I remember reading in a 0.966 thread that this had something to do with my graphics card. I also remember the post saying the solution is "emptying the cache" or something along those lines. I had this problem once at the beginning of 0.966 but it disappeared the next day.

Sorry if the solution is in an extremely obvious place and I'm just oblivious. ;)

go to my documents/battlefield 2/mods/bf2/cache and delete everything in there, then start bf2 up and play as usual, this causes your shaders to reoptimise automatically and should fix the issue

lol @ rushn you mate always have problems with PR its never ending ;-) ~

I remember I said to you that you need to run BF2 first but this is only after you do some major things, like after install. When you delete shaders cache no need to do that again, just do as Rudd told you.
The reason why you run Bf2 after major things is to create new profiles directory and needed files ( read if you delete whole battlefield 2 directory you need to run bf2 first )

Sorry for hijacking the thread, but I thought it would be better than creating a new one.

I have the not so uncommon issue with black spots in the terrain. This occurs on all maps, and in vBF2 as well. I have tried all settings on texture and AA. I have deleted the cache folder in My Documents. I also tried updating my graphic drivers.

I run a hd4870 on win7 64bit. Before I upgraded to win7, I did not have this problem. What else can be done ? Would a older graphics driver do the trick perhaps?

Thank you,

Lajning I believe that is a problem with some ATI drivers, but I'm not sure which ones. I use nVidia so not of much help, but I recall someone speaking of it, and I cant remember which topic was it.

Rushn something is wrong with your PC mate. I had maybe few CTDs while on server after I recently reinstalled Win7 x64 but thats it. Having so much problems indicates that your PC is in bad shape or wrong configured. Might be fragmentation issue? How often do you clean the clutter and defrag your drives? Do that on regular basis and your system will live longer altogether with your hard drives. Thats only thing I can think of now. If its the same problem find that topic when we were discussing your problem and follow exact steps again. Oh and do cleanup and defrag ;)

It is if you deleted it and you did not run the game again to create it. And it should be in Libraries>Documents>Battlefield 2>mods>cache - for Windows 7
