Missing Mods PR Cache Folder, Video.con, Black Objects & Ground Spots, 4670HD @ 11.8 Catalyst and Driver on Windows Seven 64-Bit, oh and forgot to mention BF2 Battlefield 2 freezes my computer when I click exit.

Wow where to start, I think I might beyond help. Honestly before you start I think very low ATI Radeon (XFX Product) after moving from my nVidia 7800, are they just trash?

After a clean install of win7 ult. 64 bit. patches, pr, I go to start PR and it just splashes, no start. I read hours of posts. After having problems installing a XFX HD4670 with Catalyst 11.6 and 11.7, 11.8 is now working, but many people still suggesting using 10.10, 10.11, 10.12 or 11.1 Catalyst Drivers.

Problem #1: Windows 7 64-Bit, Project Reality CTD does not start, splash screen only, upon fresh installation.
Solution #1: Run BF2 Vanilla. Apply Compatibility Mode XP SP3, Run As Admin on PR. Create, Retrieve your profile.

I can't remember at what point this happened but this is another thing. BF2 Probably crashed upon clicking Exit causing problems.

Problem #2: BF2, PR attempts to launch after splash screen, BF2 or PR mouse can be seen frozen. Video.con contents empty.
Solution #2: Manually Enter Video.con Settings 1-3 Being Quality:

Problem #3: PR Freezes CPU after Launch, BF2 Still works. Documents/BF2/Mods/ "PR/Cache" Missing.
Solution #3: Add Folder PR in Mods, Add Folder Cache in PR

Now had to go back to #2, Still crashing when I hit exit, black objects and grounds.
$50 for anyone who can fix this.

well to remove black spots you have to go 11.3 or below and use catalyst AI, if they still happen in those driver versions, shame really the 11.8 gives a nice performance boost.

Apply Compatibility Mode XP SP3

never do that, nor with any other OS that is in the list
only run as admin

there isnt suppose to be a PR/cache
only bf2/cache/

OK well now my problem is getting my profile, when I retrieve it in BF2 or PR it freezes my computer. Maplist.con is the only thing in the Profile Folder. Poooo

Are you the admin profile in win7? see all the folders that are connected to BF2 and see if your profile has all the reading writing privileges (except for special permissions because controlling your pc how you want to is preposterous), you could also try starting BF2 up with all your Anti viruses and the windows firewall off, and try retrieving the account then, also turning UAC off might be a good idea

I see you are having fun there. I'm also Win Ult x64 user and having CTD problems which are close to be resolved.

At first... Make sure your Windows profile has admin privileges.

Then I see you have messed up with files. Just for sure, uninstall bf2&pr.

Now downgrade your ATI to 11.3. It's good to check at this point that you have other drivers up-to-date and so on...

Install BF2 (+ SF if you own) and all patches for BF2. Basically you want to install 1.41 Full and 1.5. Do NOT install in compatibility modes any of these.

At this point your BF2 should be fully up-to-date. And actually a working one.

Let's install PR. Download all parts and install them in right order. No compatibility modes or anything when you install.

So now you have installed PR. Then you want to open BF2, retrieve your account, set up video settings, save and close the game. Open BF2 again and check your video settings that they are saved. If not then just set up again your settings, save and see again are they saved.

At this point your PR should start fine and maps should load fine. You might have CTDs ingame. At least I'm having CTDs ingame and I'm looking into that right now.

But that's all what i got right now...

I also forgot to mention my card it AGP, so reading other forums they say to go back to 11.1 or even 10.12, and finding the 11.1 AGP Catalyst Driver is proving to be difficult so do you have any links to drivers? You don't think I should use 11.3 should I?

I actually found the 11.1, and I am getting Prerror and plenty of them incase this continues after reinstall.

Crashed when trying to set up my video setting in game. Radeon is trash someone should make a big Sticky that says, DO NOT BUY ATI RADEON. THEY ARE T R A S H, IF I HAVE TO USE OLD DRIVERS AND THE THING STILL HAS LESS STABILITY THEN MY 6 YEAR OLD 7800GS.

The problem with starting was partially due to mismatched Hz settings between BF and the ATI tray tools, editing the video.con file to match ATI, BF2 launched and I was able to set my video and audio settings, but upon clicking EXIT my entire computer freezes, this was a problem on the last install the I'm pretty sure eventually corrupted the files. Anyone have a solution to the EXIT CPU FREEZE Problem?

Edit: Confirmed this is compounding the problem, All .con files are empty in 0001 and default. Could this be a memory error?

To sum up all the problems and solutions:

Using Old 11.1 Catalyst Drivers to avoid Black Spots
Clean BF2 and Patch Install on Admin with No other applications open to avoid Corruption
Manually set the video.con and ati tray tools to matching resolution and hz.
Run BF2 and Retrieve/Create Account so PR will launch.
NOW the biggest problem is empty .con files after hitting EXIT in BF2 and my computer freezes.
