Best value for money joystick.

Post by ForLibertyandFreedom »

Hi guys, my gaming PC should be here next week, and I'm very interested in getting a joystick for flying.

However, I've never used one. Is it better to use one for flying jets in PR, if so, which ones would you recommend for under ?50?

Cheers!

Most defiantly, although if you've never used a joystick before it will take a bit to learn how to use it and get good with it but once you've got your teeth into it you wont ever let go!

I would also advise using one for choppers as well but slightly harder to learn but again, really worth it once you've learnt!

As for the best value for money stick, I would say on of the Saitek Cyborg series.

The v1 is the most basic and you can get it for around ?20, under if you look around hard enough and has everything you need with quite a few buttons :D
Cyborg V.1 Flight Stick

Although if your willing on spending a little bit extra the the v5 is really worth looking at as its a much more improved design (the v1 is quite old now) with the throttle in a much better spot, as well as it having twin throttles (although not very useful for PR, more for flight sims with aircraft with more than one engine), better hand grip and better buttons setup and you can get it for around ?30 if you shop around hard enough :)
Cyborg F.L.Y 5 Flight Stick

I'm sure many people will suggest plenty of Logitech sticks too which are cheaper but IMO, they don't other quite as much as a Saitek stick :)

Thanks for the information, Rhino - I'll take a look into them. I anticipated them being difficult to use at first, but thank god for PR:SP and Arma 2's single player :D .

I use to play alot of PR a few months ago, and was always gutted I couldn't fly, so made it a mission to learn ;) I'll take a look into these joysticks.

I would definitely get the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, for ~ 30 € ...
