possible Al Basrah idea

Post by A.Finest »

Hey everyone.

I just thought I'd share my thoughts about Al Basrah. The fact that the North-East side (the island) is not being used for anything...

Well an idea would be to add some compounds / buildings out there etc.. It would be a nice place to attack cache's as theres only on crossing with vehicles that is..

Maybe add some grass fields or something to make it look more natural.

You could also add several more CSB deployable areas to create several ways of crossing that river without having to swim or drive over that long bridge.

I would find it very interesting to fight close to that river passing.

Imagine insurgents sitting at the east side of the river, shooting at the incomming UK forces, trying to swim between the bullets, vehicles will be very exposed in these situations, since they need to have good communications with nearby friendleys to keep the insurgents in the main city off their backs, so they can focus better on those eastern insurgents.

Im just wondering why is it even "in the map" if its not being used for anything, I know some people build support FOB's the (Mortars etc) But its not being used for anything else but that really.

Just an idea or a fact. That I thought I would share with you :)

Thanks!, uss-finest.

Unless they find a way to connect the other island southwest of it (bringing it closer + bridge), it's pretty much a choke point and a very tight one at that. I can assure you that CSBs from the refinery to aaaaaalllll the other way wouldn't work. Do you really think that insurgents would let the supply truck build the last third of the bridge?

al basrah is part of the first generation of PR maps . . so the tactical useage is a TAD out dated to say but its still usable . . yes we all know there are un used sections of the map and we all know it needs to be updated but there is already a section about albasrah V2 which some one created as an updated version which actually isnt Too bad just needs to be tweaked and voted in by the Devs.

You gotta remember the fact that CSB's can also be used to rebuild blown up parts of bridges. Since the truck can slowly back up to drop off the bridge, you can have a Warrior following it up the ram to provide coverage across the bridge

I understand what you mean but let me point you out why that wouldn't work: mortars. And if it's not that, the Warrior wouldn't be able to stop every rpg or occasional burst of fire against the truck. The Warrior per se would be in a tricky position to fall back if greeted with a wave of rpgs. Then there's mines or arties that can be placed in the CBS deployable areas.

I think the idea is a good one, I think we can all agree that Basrah is a good map that is starting to feel a little small/unoptimised for repeated gameplay.

Yeah, why aren't there boats for both sides here. There are even boat launches at the mansion and hotel begging to be used.
