Quick tip if you plan to play medic

Post by n00bsauce »

With the new update allowing medics to start off with 11 patches, right before you revive someone drop 2 patches on a teammate as it increase both of your chances of survivability if you are getting them up in hostile areas.

I've been playing lately and seeing a lot of medics just hit the paddles and then reheal with the medikit which puts both of you at a disadvantage as the person being healed will still be B&W and unable to fully cover due to lack of vision. Dropping the patches will give them clear vision as soon as they are revived and the healing time is just a couple seconds compared to 8-10 from a full medikit heal.

With the increase to patches, you will rarely run out before you are either killed or will be able to resupply from either crates/bags.

I'm sure this has been discussed previously but it needs to be reinforced from time to time to help out newer players as well.

Drop 2 patches? I don't think that's even possible, the first one should disappear unless they changed something about that.

That's what I was gonna say.

Although the OPs point still stands. Dropping a patch before reviving is the hallmark of an excellent medic, rather than just a good or a great medic.

Not to mention it also will "jerk" the body loose from the terrain, so you don't have to use CPR if they are glitched, saving precious time.

Well alright, I'll probably get flamed for this, but I've always thought of this "patch trick" to be an exploit.

Seriously, reviving is amazing as it is already. I really think that you should smoke or clear the area before reviving someone, I don't like this "revive and sprint" kind of thing. It might be just me.

I insist on walking to cover whenever I get revived, with a patch or not.

But do whatever you think is best... different people have fun in different ways ;)
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

Meh, patching the body only works well if CPR doesn't work, or you need the body to sprint right away, like if you had to cover the body in smoke to avoid taking fire, and also to quicken the process of healing.

However, if you're just cleaning up friendly squads after enemies have been wiped out, patch is not needed.

Another tip, if there is a body glitched into a wall, throw a smoke grenade on the body. The force of the collision mesh on the players moves the body enough to be able to revive :)

There are times you revive with patches and there are times when you just use the epipen. A good medic will know when to do what.

All that being said, clearing the area of hostiles is critical for healing.

However, there is always the situation where you are able to safely get one or two people up for a few extra reinforcement so you don't get overran.

That, medics oversee way too often the ability to instantly revive downed teammates (which got blown over cover, kicked back to cover and so on). They instead sit back and waste precious time deploying smoke when its not needed at all.

The trick to become an excellent medic is to know when to hide and wait, or estimate when to get people up asap.

So basically the leet medic skills improve with experience. Like wine.

But surely if you've gone so far as to revive 11 people, one of them will be a rifleman?

11 patches is so many it's almost irrelevant. As a medic you can use them to drop on your AR man everytime he Deploys in case he gets shot.

Agreed, so often a medic will deploy smoke and blind the whole squad/make it a target for Armour/Grenadiers/CAS when the guy died behind cover. Derp.

Thats lame tactic, but its possible, so if one wants to use it, good. If it works, even better!

I use my squad to cover me/clear the area when reviving, and i do just fine as medic.

One of the keys, I find, to being a medic is to direct the down squad member exactly which way to move upon reviving. That way they get behind cover quickly, and help us both from being targeted. That said, I would rather die trying to revive someone, then wait anywhere's. Dropping the bandages is pretty effective, but not two, i'll generally rev them and plop a bandage down on them. That way I can keep on moving and come back to finish healing once the firefight has died down.

dont forget to look at your map all the time, its not just your own squad you should help out. opening your map every few seconds will show you if there is a wounded guy from another squad around you that you can revive. Thats what makes a good medic, the ability to help other squads around you and not just your own.
