Flying helicopters is harder with flight stick than mouse?
Finally got my flight stick working with pr:bf2 and it's much easier to fly planes smoothly now, but im finding that i could control helicopters better with my mouse. Is there any way to to turn up the sensitivity of the flight stick in pr so i can have the same responsiveness i get from my mouse?

Not in-game, but maybe you can configure it with the software that came with your joystick?
And no, it's not harder to fly with joystick. You just gotta get used to it. And the throttle-control is a lot easier.

Mouse is by far easier, at least more intuative. That is not to say if you fly for a long time with a stick you will not get good at it. I find the mouse gives you that extra percision that you need.
Use stick for jets for sure though.

i find it easier to control the throttle, you just gotta get used to fly with the joystick and it is just as easy
Flying jets is much easier, and also the joystick shouldn't be to easy to move, you need force feedback or something, makes it much better

Its SO evil, it may actually encourage EA to support Modding again - Pantera

Its harder to fly with a stick, but master it and you will never go back

That is precisely why I fly helo's with Keyboard only. I can be anywhere playing on any machine and it is all the same.[R-DEV]Rhino wrote:Its harder to fly with a stick, but master it and you will never go back![]()

That's pretty much the same argument which modellers give to not using 3D mice which I can fully understand if your someone who's always hopping between different systems but for me, I'm 98% of the time on my system when working/gaming so that issue doesn't exist.acemantura wrote:That is precisely why I fly helo's with Keyboard only. I am using a PS one bad with sticks. I didnt try joystick yet, but I am guessing for Helicopter its far better.

I use keyboard+mouse. I just love it.

Played vanilla with keyboard on choppers and stick in jets. After i tried stick with choppers in PR, there was no turning back, the precision of throttle and in general is much better than with keyboards tapping. Example, choppers have sweetspot in negative "thrust" where it decents fast but wont tilt to its side. Altough flying choppers in PR with stick, i couldn't fly them in vanilla.

I've tried choppers with joystick but keyboard and arrow keys is my favourite. Mouse is just too slow for flying in PR.
With the keyboard you can do extremely sharp turns, land in very tight spaces and manage to stabilise appropriately.

Re: Flying helicopters is harder with flight stick than mouse?
I've been playing various flight simulators with joysticks for at least 9 years (since age 10) so I may be a little biased
I fully advocate the use of joysticks in PR. Its hard to say that the throttle is not easier to manipulate but I'd argue that a mouse is not intuitive to control. Maybe it is after becoming used to it, but thats not the real meaning of intuitive anymore, is it?
I feel I can much more precisely control the helicopter through a combination of precise power control and the abilty to hold and adjust a certain pressure in a given direction on the actual joystick axis. Another thing I feel is counterintuitive about a mouse is the fact that it is manipulated in two dimensions on a flat surface, whereas a joystick moves in three dimensional space.
I know plenty of people who fly purely on keyboard and mouse that are fantastic pilots so I guess it is all preference, but part of me just feels like they're only experiencing a very small part of the picture. I do agree that joystick takes some getting used to. But once you get it, you'll never go back.
EDIT: THIS

This is just ONE example of the many little things a joystick can offer. Theres so many quirks you find that become second nature or subconsious when flying.Anazuke wrote: Example, choppers have sweetspot in negative "thrust" where it decents fast but wont tilt to its side.

I use joystick only for jets. Tried on helo, hard.

The true test of whether you're good at flying is going through Muttrah in between buildings under fire. If you make it, you're a stronger person.

What does this have to do between mouse and joystick?PricelineNegotiator wrote:The true test of whether you're good at flying is going through Muttrah in between buildings under fire. If you make it, you're a stronger person.
