[Help] Unable to target weld in 3DS Max

Hey
I recently installed 3DS Max 9, and am currently doing the Glock tutorial.

There are two instances where there are vertexes which I cannot target weld to annything, except the same polygon. Anything on the edge of this polygon cannot be target welded to any other part of the gun, except the same polygon.
I may be forgeting something really stupid, but give me a break, I just started.

Edit: Woops, its actually target welding. Could a MOD change the title for me?

Are the polygons part of the same object? Target weld won't work between two separate objects.

They shouldn't be... I can weld it to the vertex on the other side of the object, but not this one. If you look to the right of the bottom red circle, its attached at the other point.

Check that one of the polygons doesn't have a back face or some weird double line or something. Basically 3dsmax is telling you something isn't right and that welding these two vertices would make something physically impossible.

You seem to have 2 faces facing the opposite way there, just flip the "wrong" one and you should be good to go.

Yeah flip it or delete it and it will weld.
