Problem: No menu with shortcut message problem


I get this message sometimes when I have actually started PR fine, joined a server, then pressed Esc. It gives me this message instead of the standard men, but it also gives me the option to simply disconnect or exit, nothing else. (It doesn't say in the link this time because it was the end of the round and the server kicked me for not having the next map).

My PR files and BF2 files are in Program Files (x86) and my target and shorcut are correct and includes the correct /Program Files (x86)/ blah blah.

But as you can see in the link, it says the correct link should be using Program Files not
x86. When I installed the 3 parts of 0.973, it said that it was being placed in (x86) files (as I wanted) and it did but I'm not sure how I can change the files settings or whatever the source problem that is causing the message, so that it doesn't search in the Program Files for the EA Games/... , because it appears it's doing that now >.<
I thought of just copying and pasting the EA games into the Program files, and seeing if it worked, but I have started PR every single tme with it in the x86 files and working, but recently it pops up with this message.
I am running everything on adminstrator.

nother error I have noticed is sometimes i get 'ERROR: Unable to open BF2 process' window. And the annoying thing is this only happens when I turn Game booster off, after turning it on.
I don't know if when I turn GB on, it stops processes that allow BF2 to run normally, so I am unsure whether Game booster is related to this error message

First thing is to try and delete the shaders cache which is in C:\Users\usernamehere\Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache
If that wont work then delete the whole Battlefield 2 folder in Documents, but be aware that it will delete all your settings and profiles. You will need to retrieve your account after doing this.

As for gamebooster its crapware - not doing anything its just constantly killing "dead" processes in your RAM freeing it for your app, but if you have enough RAM I don't see the point of using it. As for defrag better use built in windows defrag on regular basis. Unable to open BF2 process happens to me too sometimes, and usually after playing long time and changing a few servers. I think its caused by memory leak, and cant do much about it - perhaps assigning BF2 process to only one core ( affinity )

I have noticed something else though whenever I start bf2 or pr or any other mod i run and alt-tab, the icon in the bottom bar isn't the mod it is running, but it says it is running a mod i have called omnicide.
i.e. I run AIX 2.0 mod, get in the game, alt-tab, it will show up as the omnicide icon and it also says when i hover my mouse over the icon, that the program is omnicide >.<

I have done that many times, both BF2 and PR. I use the correct pathches and download them in the right order, but still nothing

Did you reinstall BF2 too? Complete? Checked for leftover directories i program files/ea games/battlefield 2 and my documents/battlefiled 2? Cleanup registry and temp files?

EDIT: a tip - always start bf2 vanilla prior to starting PR, meaning install bf2 with all expansions and patches and then try joining online server - if it works right then proceed to install PR

Did you retrieve all your accounts using pr? because I got that error after doing so and had to delete my profiles again and retrieve them via bf2 vanilla and now that warning has gone away. And omnicide is the zombie mod, sometimes when im playing pr and go to desktop the icon is showing im playing USI mod so wouldnt worry about that.

Yes, i reinstalled everything, but i didn't delete the cleanup registry and temp files. and I will start BF2 first AND join a server

I get the same thing borg, so I too get them via normal bf2
