Thicker Muzzle Smoke

Post by dsJonas96 »

Well, After Enjoying PR For A While, I Noticed That The Smoke Puffs From The Weapons Are A Bit Small/Thin, Especially The M249, Is There A Possible Way To Change It? Like Script Editing, Editing .tweak Files, Anything At All? Please Don't Think Of It As Cheating, I Don't Play Online Since My Connection Is Extremely Slow, Anyways, Thanks ;)

PS: I've Seen The M249 From The Movie "Act Of Valor" Firing And Producing Large Amount Of Smoke Especially When In Prone

Since you're subject to MD5 checks online anyway, it doesn't matter what people think regarding it's "cheating" or whatever.. you'd be kicked from any servers running the md5 checks (which should be all of them) anyway. As for the info, I'm sure it can be changed but I wouldn't have the slightest clue. Have you checked the bfeditor forums?

cheating? lol

particle effects, one day maybe 50+ years from now we will be able to render 500 trillion grains of sand to enhance muzzle signatures, create brown outs and dust devils to add to our online combat games

we will all be old farts by then if we make it there

Well, usually, in bright sunlight you don't see that much of a muzzle flash or smoke.

The first video I found on youtube searching "M249 firing Iraq" (which should represent quite well 90% of all cases where an M249 will be fired ingame) was this one, and it supports my opinion quite well:

So I think it's intended that you don't see a lot of muzzle flash/smoke when firing your weapon, because it's realistic.

I Think You're Right But Can I Still Change It? I Don't Fire The M249 When Standing Anyway(Most People Doesn't), I Usually Fire It While Crouching Or In Prone And It Should Pick Up Dirt Or Dust From The Ground.

If those guys were prone they'd be kicking up a lot of dust! But I quess that's irrelevant

Btw, muzzle flash was removed from PR which is realistic in bright daylight, but then again very unrealistic on dark lighting such as in Silent Eagle. Maybe something from between would be ideal. :? :

All modern weapons use what we like to call smokeless powder, meaning that the act of firing the weapon will generate little to no smoke.

The over pressure from firing it will however kick up lots of dust and other **** if its around. To do this we would 1. have to make dust/dirt particles, which would be very hard if not impossible. 2. model the pressure from each weapon system to simulate it kicking up the new particles. This would make the BF2, come to a screeching halt and shoot itself.

If you have the experience to code something that would work then knock yourself out, you can tweak the files all you want for your own personal use, just don't try and play online because, as previously stated you will be kicked from any server you try to join.

However, you're going to have to learn how to code the stuff yourself, most of the Devs are busy working on their own projects and probably won't have the time to teach you how to make your muzzle smoke bigger. There is a wealth of knowledge on the internet about coding for dummies ect ect. A quick google search should give you a starting point.
