Location: Iran-Afganistan border, near Herat

Factions: Polish Forces vs MEC

As you see on the concept In the middle of the map you have a little Valley, on the north there is a desert, and on the south, a village next to the lake. There are 2 villages, East and West, kind of similar to those from Kashan Desert. on the North part of the moutains there is a castle, good to set up mortars/AA in.
Legend/key for mainbases:
- C - commander's UAV station
- V - hangar with vehicles
- H - helipad
- J - jet hangar
- R - repair point
- B - Infantry spawn point
- those wierd pencil-drawn lines are mountains, I just couldn't find any way to describe them on the map

im a map noob too, but i would recommend to you not make a 4km map just yet, especially a desert map, i thinkw e have already many of those and as the layout looks it is very similar to a blackgold or iron eagle.
if you still want to carry on I think it would look and play better if you didnt spread out everything so much, yes you should have interest area around the map but you should also give spacebetween things as in real life geography, :example. the castle could be sorrounded by the small village, or the vcp be in the crossroad etc, i think you should try to make a different map from the others, not only a replacemnt for the polish forces,
of course this is all my opinion

I know what you mean, but look on the map. Every square is 300m X 300m. I just don't want the flags to be closer than 900m because it would be clusterf*ck. Many flags will change/get removed, same as some hills. The finished map can be much different than this

i hope you are aware of the AAS gamemode, you can have different flap setups each time the maps load (either random or semi random) for more look in the tutorial section, best to visit it anyway

the error you are getting is because you haven't actually installed the editor. You just downloaded the editor.exe from the , most likely, "more stable bf2 editor.exe" thread on the forums. I recommend reading the following article and installing the editor correctly!

As mentioned in the mapping forums. Please do not start making bf2/PR maps with a 4 km. You'll be better off starting a little less ambitious and using maybe a 1km, or 2 km. Most likely 2km since 1km is bbeing phased out slowly. But DO NOT try a 4km map unless you have a fair amount of experience in modding/mapping.
I'm just talking from one mapper to another, it's a lot harder than it seems

Sure, I will try making a simple 2 km map, and then after I got used to the editor I will start making this map. Also, thanks for the link. I was searching for tutorials in google/youtube and anything I saw was people actualy making simple maps, and not explaining how they do it. the rest was in german :/
Btw: if I am correct 256 means 1km map, the next means 2 km map, and 2048 means 4km map?

1024 x 2 is 2km, 1024 x 4 is 4km, and 512 x 2 is 1km IIRC

reconsider on an oil hold in afghanistan, there is no oil there, a mining complex may be a better choice?
Looks fine despite that, reminds me a lot of black gold.
As a preliminary suggestion, do your best to make it so that there is always a flag in the dead center of the map, otherwise whole quadrants are left barren usually.

maybe change polish aircraft to abadoned aircraft? witch one Poles use for bulid field aircraft?
it is little wired (i know , it is only game xD ) 2 air craft in too small distans.

I thought its some kind of mining facility

Anyway, the location is very close to Iran border, which is one of the biggest oil producers in the world. I never said that it is "producing" oil, it may only be oil storage

Honestly, I put it there because I have no other ideas about the desert

well, my concept was that there was some kind of airport in the past, but because of some incidents it was closed and abandoned. A few years later some kind of building company decided to build another airport, because the previous one was destroyed/dangerous. When the fictional conflict begun polish army that was stationed in this part of afghanistan captured the old airport and repaired it so they can use it. The second airport was captured by the invading army (MEC) and started using it. Ofc neither polish or MEC army would be this stupid to capture airbase 5 km next to enemy one, but there is just no way to put it further (out of bounds)

instead of creating a new airport to replace the old one, try making the old one destroyed and then a temporary airport while the new one is under construction. I.E sand runways, crude airtraffic control (tents) and a few hangers. You could use the afghan road and make it alot wider via the tweaker controls.

Although, I am afraid of dirt runways... Z-fighting and sh*t... what about one runway finished that you will takeoff/land on, and a second one being a dirt/sand road with crane and houses for workers (if you know what I mean

) So it looks like it was under construction but in the meantime the war started and everyone run away without taking their stuff ?
