No more bird watching?
I heard that everyone but SQL and Snipers will be without their trusty Binoculars?
I love having them with all kits because in real life I would be able to see more clearly than in this game. If you replaced them with the "focus" vision zoom from Arma2 that would make sense but why make the game this much more difficult?? I can't express to you how many people don't like Falklands because of the lack of scopes and binoculars.

love the fact they are being removed. Will make the SL position more important and makes the grunt more aware of their surrounding while being stationary. I loved it on the falklands especially because of the fighting at long range.

In my opinion, it shouldn't be removed. It might be more realistic for not every soldier to have his own set of binoculars (AFAIK, most armies don't supply binoculars to every soldier) but it's kind of neccesary to keep the game fun.

To be honest I'm willing to wait and see how it pans out. We may get used to the change and see it have a positive influence on gameplay/ teamwork etc. If not then we can restart the discussion to get binos reintroduced.
I personally use binos all the time, they are the only shortcut I have on my mouse, but this type of reaction is common to all major changes (I forget, is it OMG or WTF?).
It has been said that it is unrealistic for regular infantry to carry around binos, but they help compensate for the fact that we are actually focusing on pixels not real objects in the real, outside world.

In my opinion it's really frustrating squad leading a group of people, at some point stopping for a recon run or just overwatch. You pick up your binos to check as SL, tell the squad spread out and cover the sectors - next thing you see is a whole bunch grunts standing next to you in a cluster fuck watching binos, just because they have them!
Trust me even in professional clans, shit like this happens...
If they don't have, you'll implement more group/squad cohesion in terms of teamwork and tactic. More or less forcing squad members to listen to the SL and do as he tells, because he knows more!?

Although I don't know much about how this will pan out (except from Falklands), I feel that even though it might be more realistic not having binoculars it's still something that every man in PR needs. I might be wrong, we'll just have to wait and see.

It is a spawnable kit; not supposed to be super awesome.

That's just ridiculous, might aswell then put the binos on the guns while we're at it shall we ?
3 Patches is just because he's a SL, nothing more or less, just as any other kit but with more in-depth of his role. Rally comes with the SL role and position, not the kit... Kit is only a tool to set a rally.

In my opinion, it's good that they are being removed. It's not realistic and I think that it will improve the gameplay.

If you played Falklands, Vietnam and Project Normandy you should know that no binocs = better gameplay.
Without binocs people supress more and they shoot more because they can't put down super accurate shots like it is in PR because of scopes and binos. It's also harder to see if you killed your enemy, so even more bullets are shot since you don't always know if you killed him.
In PR right now with binocs :
1. Scan with binocs
2. Find enemy
3. Put the center of your view on the enemy
4. Switch to rifle
5. Start shooting
It's more realistic to have no binos for most kits because :
1. Not all troops are issued binos
2. It makes it harder to see the enemy, simulating the fact that in real life it's just rare to see your enemy, you just fire in it's general direction.
3. You don't always see if you killed your enemy, like in real life (I don't think soldiers cease fire in real life cause they saw the enemy feet passing through the wall!)

IRL Only Snipers and Officers are issued binoculars. why is it going to be hard for some to accept the game simulating more real life equipment experience? because PR did not implement it from the beginning so taking a way the binoculars from infantry kits leaves some disgruntled.
I'm not real thrilled about the change simply because they were very useful but will adjust and accept the developers trying to make the game experience more realistic.

another con on not having binos is finsing myself pixel hunting very concentrated on that one pixel in the distance that I though has moved
