Problem with PunkBuster

Im new to Project Reality and started my game recently, then joined a server and was banned instantly for not having punkbuster or something, which doesnt make sense. There was no option to install punkbuster to Project reality, only Battlefield 2, and its installed to BF 2. I also have pb setup running and i wasnt able to join a server without getting banned. Somebody help me, please.

I just said it doesnt work. There is no path that leads to Project reality, no folder, i only have the setup exe's for PR.

You need to install PR, I think you may have the wrong version.

There is 3 parts to download and install, the download page is here :

Downloads | Project Reality

You need the full client which is in 3 parts. Then when installing it will ask if you want to update your punkbuster.

You need BF2 patched to 1.5, you need to patch it to 1.41 first though.


Also I really doubt you got banned, maybe kicked but not banned.

Ok i have installed it from Mod db before you made this post and downloaded both patches like it asked me. So your saying the version of PR i downloaded was wrong, because i downloaded from modb, which was a given option for downloading 3 parts of PR on this website. P.S I have a feeling everyone paying in the community event today, and I cant play without getting banned for no clear reason.

There were very few servers that wouldnt ban me. And i reinstalled PR 5 times and updated punkbuster. This is ridiculous.

what do you mean banned key? CD Key? I have been using the same cd key since i bought this game 7 years ago. Btw your link doesnt work, it reads "invalid captcha entered".

Looks like the key has been leaked somehow - It's been used by 205 different aliases across a broad spectrum of IP addresses - unfortunately one of those was a cheater.

Like I said.. buying a new key is your only option to play online.

yah this is kind of creepy, some other guy is mentioned as me, when thats imposible, i guess having this game for so long and not playing it until now kind of made things worse. Im going to have to find my BF 2 manual, which will probably take a long time or buy a new key, where ever i can find one i guess. Can i buy one from EA?

There are a lot of places online where you can just get the key and update your current install.

My advice - avoid ebay as you can't be guaranteed that it's a key that hasn't been used before or sold to a number of people... Try Steam, or Origin (EA). Both around 15 bills....

after this is done i may need some help with mumble too. It wont let me connect to the PR server, i get a message reading "connection failed, connection refused".

Which version of mumble are you using? ie.; make sure you download v.1 here - and don't use the one that installs with the mod.
