pr.exe has stopped working

ok so i downloaded BF2 with steam

then downloaded 1,2,3 pr mod install in correct order

bf2: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Battlefield 2

mod: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Battlefield 2\mods\pr

when i click the shortcut i get a "pr.exe has stopped working"

i added the mod to steam games and tried to run it from there same error.

i tried to run it on the community tab in bf2 then i get a message saying i need to update my shortcut.

my bf2 is updated to v1.5 and pr is v0.973 and also im running both as admin.

welcome to Project Reality forums,

Please tell us what OS you are using, and we'll get you up and running,

First off, log into your steam account.
Run BF2 vanilla once,
Look on bottom Left of log in screen, it should say 1.5.3153-802.0 . If it does not, let us know.
Login or create a user account.
Join a online server for a few moments.
These steps are essential , the BF2.exe creates the registry entries and creates the user profile files.
Adjust your audio and video settings now for convenience.
Close down BF2.



go to Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Battlefield 2\mods\pr and find PR.exe .
right click PR.exe, create a shortcut,

Right click the shortcut, ->Properties,

If you crash at the splash screen, or the screen goes black and then crashes to desktop, try to start PR in windowed mode by following the directions below:

Edit your PR shortcut and ( what AfterDune said ) put this in it

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" +restart +menu 1 +fullscreen 0 +szx 1280 +szy 720

Dont just copy paste this, but adjust to your install location. Make sure you dont omit quotation marks or it wont work.
If you start in windowed mode and it CTDs, a Message will pop up telling you the problem. Take a screenshot or write this down and post it to this thread.

If the game runs with this shortcut, then you can close down, and then remove the

from your shortcut. Run shortcut as admin and you should be good to go.

yea i can log in just fine and play

It may not be relevant, but does it show the PR splash screen before going black and then crashing, or does it not show anything at all??

its shows nothing when i try to start it right from the desktop a little window pops up saying that it has stopped working.... but when i go into bf2 and go in the community tab and start it from there it tells me that i need to update the shortcut.


but i just now reformated my computer to see if it would help
