Hello i just downloaded project reality and i played for sometime in coop but in deployment there seem to be many empty servers and the ones that are populated are too high ping for me
any idea when the servers get more populated? its around 7PM in the US so i thought lots of people would be playing but maybe it also has to do with the fact that i dont have the map pack (downloading that now)
I live in india and high ping is not a rare thing, in BF2 i get on maybe 10=12 servers 150-170 ping and lots of 203 and 265 pings (still playable) but in PR its all 700 ping -500 ping.
Anyway i hope the servers get populated more, cause i really want to play this game

Generally 4 PM Eastern Standard Time is your best bet. Unfortunately, the servers are pretty quiet at the moment because of how long it has been since the last update (it's been over two years since the last big one now).
The good news is the next update v1.0 is going to be
huge (reportedly by far the largest one ever) and a massive player influx is expected. v1.0 is probably going to be released sometime in the spring, so expect the servers to be quiet until then.
Again, the servers are going to fill up when v1.0 is released. If I were you, I would get ready

Look at this website/tool to see how many servers are on with players in real time :
Project Reality - PRSPY - Server and player browser and tracker - Create a buddy list - Launch PR directly
There is always more players around 3PM - 4PM East, because Europeans aren't all sleeping yet

One word of advice: Join servers even when you have a high ping. A high ping is easy to deal with in PR. Ping is far less important in Project Reality than in most other shooters, due to overall slower gameplay and slower weapon handling.
Of course, if the delay is 500 or 700ms that won't help much either, but try joining servers and see how well it works anyway.

Up to 200ms ping is completely ok. Issues can occur past 250 or so...

I have hit up to 300 ping in game without any issues. It's not flawless game play, but definitely manageable.

I play averaging around 170ms - 210ms ping on ]CIA[ and =H=. Trust me, it makes a huge difference. Anything over 100ms ping is instrumental to bad gameplay. After encountering an enemy at close range (we both saw each other @ 10m apart) I fired around 8 shots from my gun before he killed me (10m away). As I think that is complete bull **** that none of my bullets hit him, I decided to count how many bullets were left in my magazine.
28. According to the server, I had
fired 2 bullets. That means the server did not register the other 6 bullets I fired. That my friend is a
huge difference and no doubt leads to my death in multiple occasions, I hate to feel how hard the aussies have it where they average around 270ping. All I can hope for is that the BigD aussie server gets revived for the v1.0 release of PR so that I can grab my 70 ping again.
Just want to dispel this myth of 200 Ping not causing deaths and it's perfectly okay. (Sure, alot of things its okay for such as Mortars or even gunning for an attack chopper, but in CQB combat, you are screwed unless you have the jump).

BF2 is set to 100ms default compensation, so 170 is actually "70". Im not saying its perfect past 100, but its completely manageable.
