looking for a cheap laptop for a friend in the uk

Right, my mate is over in liverpool.

He wants a dirt cheap laptop. a friend of his quoted him one for 250 pounds, says its ok, but he is an f'n luddite and hasnt a clue.


So can anybody recommend what he should do? similar price range, probebly used to watch porn at best. Dont want to get raped on the cost just because its OMG|337WINDOWS8LOLZ

becuase we all know we can get by just fine with windows 7 and a low end graphics card and quadcore or wahtever the laptop equivilent is.

This guy doesnt even know what minecraft is, so we arent talking about a gamer.

Look for a AMD APU , like the A4 series, or Intel Celeron B800 series CPU.
Not only does he not need a powerful GPU, he doesn't really need a powerful CPU either.

The only essential thing he might want is a HDMI OUT port, so he can connect his laptop to a TV for movie streaming or whatever.

Lol, that' my laptop, except from GPU(got 630M ).
What can i say about it - veeeeery slow HDD. I would recommend replace disk drive with SSD\moar-faster-HDD for system\programs.
