You can't really fight the recoil, the first few shots are good but then your gun will Jump into another spot without giving you a chance to slide your mouse and fight it.

Unless you can prove that you can control where bullet land in a one-trigger-pull mag dump IRL, PR weapons recoil is, as in World of Tanks, "Working as Intended"...

fully automatic fire is reserved for very close engagements and suppression with handheld weapons, mostly.

MG3 ELCAN undeployed from the hip. Control that and you can control anything.
Practice a lot and you can eventually control most weapons in full auto.

Current recoil isn't all that bad, but i think people overestimate the recoil some gun have. If a guy under that much stress can fire a 249 over his head, the grunts in PR should be able to fire it consistently from the hip at close quarters without end up aiming at the ceiling.

Then M249, without much accuracy.

That's why i said in close combat. I wouldn't expect anyone to hit anything at more than 50m shooting like that, but everytime you bump into someone inside a building in PR and just spray the LMG you end up killing all the lightbulbs before you (maybe) kill the enemy.

the m249 is incredibly effective at close range with iron sights up in project reality, though. It has next to no recoil deployed for long range shots

Even close range, it would miss.
And if you were aiming down sights, most weapons are more than accurate enough for such close range encounter you are talking about.

Some weapons seem to have way too much recoil like the M1 and some of the shotguns. The shotguns can be understandable but I don't get why the M1 has a monstrous amount of recoil.

The shotgun recoil is ridiculously overdone in PR.
