I figured it out.

Post by Tequila »

So for the first few weeks of the release I noticed that the new maps really felt different. There was something to them that really made them feel special. Anyways, as I was playing overlord day last night and for the first time, made landfall, ran north, and started the long hike east to the first objective with my squad, I noticed that there wasn't that feeling of having somewhere safe like the other maps do. There wasn't some room that I could cover, there weren't buildings to sneak around, there wasn't much to hide in. It was just a need to get to the objective and be very careful getting there. I noticed that there was a strong feeling of desperation, knowing that if I died it was a long trek to make up lost ground. Because of that I felt like each life in the game was even more valuable than in the regular pr maps. If I died, it wasn't just a loss of a few tickets and it actually really made me want to be careful and depend on my squad mates more than on other maps.

I just wanted to make this thread to applaud you on this design. There really is a sense of urgancy that you can tell had some deep thought and planning to it when you guys were making this part of the mod. Great job!

This is really true, I find that lives matter the most in Normandy maps because of the lack of close spawnpoints and fast transports like helicopters.
