Mumble Overlay

Hello.

I have a problem with mumble on Win 8 x64.Overlay dosent work i tryed:

Mumble
First download and install this: http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...redist_x64.exe

Then this: http://realitymodfiles.com/dbzao/PR_...0.0_Beta_4.msi

And install it.

Then it works.

and it dosen't work.

Need help.

I have had enough trouble just getting PR and Mumble to work together on my Windows 8 PC; the problems I've been having seem to be from the overlay.
I can launch Mumble first without the overlay and then launch PR without any issues, but mumble wont link. What I do now is launch PR first and then Mumble and it links/works fine, but the overlay needs to be turned off otherwise bf2.exe wont even run

I'm having the same issue. I can't get the overlay to run, in-game or otherwise, on windows 8.

im not sure if this will help but i read that if you install the newer version of normal mumble 1.2.4, then save the mumble_ol.dll from the install dir of mumble then rollback to 1.2.3 it will work.

in regards to PR mumble, you could try coping the v1.2.4 mumble_ol.dll into the PR installation directory and replace, and the overlay should work on win8. maybe.

back up your original mumble_ol.dll in PR Mumble first incase you need to revert

I think I have a solution to the Windows 8 mumble overlay problem.

Guide to fix it:

1. Shut down PR Mumble.
2. Go to your PR Mumble folder - mine was in ("C:\Program Files (x86)\PR Mumble").
3. Rename the file named mumble_ol.dll to mumble_ol_backup.dll (if the fix does not work I recommend switching back to this file)
4. Copy the file from the link below to the PR Mumble folder. Effectively replacing the file that you renamed (the new file should be named mumble_ol.dll). (If you download the .zip remember to unzip it)
5. EDIT: See my next post in this tread, new instructions from here.

This worked for me!

If anyone else on Windows 8 can try this fix and confirm it works, that would be ace!


This is the mumble_ol.dll from the latest Snapshot build of Mumble (2013-06-12), the same file is attached as a .zip if my link dies in the future.

I run PR Mumble "as admin" and with -m startup flag and PR also "as admin".
