Hi guys,
I couldn't really find a thread or section that this fits in, so I posted it here. I've been trying to get Ubuntu 12.04 LTS desktop or server to work under windows server 2008R2 by using Hyper-V. I don't assume that anyone here knows anything about Hyper-V but it's worth a shot.
I can install it just fine but the one thing that isn't working is the networking. I have created a virtual network adapter in Hyper-V, assigned the VM to it, used the IPs the datacenter gave us (x.x.x.58-62 are available to us, .58 is my current dedi box, assigned .59 to the VM), used the correct gateway and netmask addresses, but when the installation is finished, there seems to be no way to get the VM to connect to the internet. Ubuntu 12.04 is supposed to have native Hyper-V support with built-in drivers, but I have not managed to figure it out.
Does anyone here have any experience with it?
Thanks in advance

Re: WinServer2008 Hyper-V and Ubuntu 12.04
Dirty (old) solution is to create a network bridge between real and virtual network adapter.
I use VMWare and ESXi free so not too sure on the functionality in Hyper-V, havent used it since 2008 first released, just to test it out.
Quick search suggest the static IP was assigned DHCP but not a setting for default gateway ,
Also if the NIC is changed, you have to rebuild the VM, idk why, but yeah, there were problems.
