Help installing BF2 and PR

Post by Guirex »

Hello people,
I m terribly sorry if i created a useless thread but working my *** off i cannot go through all the forum posts to see if i can get the answers there. I apologise, again.

Being a former PR player i ve had a new cpu lately, and after playing bf3 for two weeks i realise i m just too old for this s***t.

Unable to find my BF2 cd i was extremely lucky to be able to purchase a new one this morning ! :-D

I m downloading the patches 1/2/3 at the moment, but my questions are these :

- when i tried to install the 1.5 patch it says i have an already more recent version... Does that sound right to you ? 1.0.2442.0 is the version number showing up when i open BF2.
- i couldn't reactivate my former bf2 EA account, and apparently cannot use the BF3 one, do i really need to be registered to play PR ?

many thanks in advance to those who'll read this and provide help, they ll be rewarded with a dedicated medic on the field as soon as PR is running :D

The BF2 ingame accounts have nothing to do with EA or BF3 as far as I know. Just create a new one, they don't even check if your email is correct.

Downloaded 1.41 prior to 1.5?

Hello,
welcome back to PR,

take a look at this, I think you skipped a step, you need to install the BF2 1.41 Full Patch before attempting to install BF2 1.5 patch.
'[R-COM wrote:LITOralis.nMd']I'll post this and I put in bold the most important part. read through this and check to see if installed in the correct order.

Can you log in to vanilla BF2?
If BF2 was already working, we'll suggest one course of action. (Could be firewall/antivirus/router/installation error/etc)
IF BF2 was just installed NOW so you can play PR, all the parts have to be installed in proper order.
Please read below and make sure you installed BF2 and PR in this order:

Here is the installation guide with download links:
PR:BF2 Support - Project Reality Forums
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... guide.html

Here is the installation guide in tl;dr format:

Install BF2.
Run BF2.
Note the version number on the bottom left corner of the log-in screen. Write it down.
log in or create a user account.
join online game.
adjust your audio and video settings now for convenience.
exit BF2.
Reboot.

(Optionally if you bought it) install Special Forces Addon.
Run BF2.
log in.
join online game.
exit BF2.
Reboot.

install 1.41 FULL PATCH.
Run BF2.
log in.
join online game.
exit BF2.
Reboot.

install 1.5 PATCH.
Run BF2.
log in.
join online game.
exit BF2.
Reboot.

Download and install 0.973 full installer.
Start the PR shortcut on desktop.
log in.
exit PR.

Download and install the PR 0.973 to 0.981 Patch
(If it CTDs, Edit the PR shortcut as described below.)
Start the PR shortcut on desktop.
log in.
join online game.

If you crash at the splash screen, or the screen goes black and then crashes to desktop, try to start PR in windowed mode by following the directions below:

Edit your PR shortcut and ( what AfterDune said ) put this in it

Code: Select all

Code:
"D:\Program Files\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" +restart +menu 1 +fullscreen 0 +szx 1280 +szy 720
Dont just copy paste this, but adjust to your install location. Make sure you dont omit quotation marks or it wont work.
If you start in windowed mode and it CTDs, a Message will pop up telling you the problem. Take a screenshot or write this down and post it to this thread.

You can then download the Anders Soundmod at your discretion.
