So I've been running BF2 and Project Reality on Windows 8 without any major problems for about six months now (as an admin on compatibility mode), when all of a sudden I join a server, get a Punkbuster handshake fail, and basically lose all input into the game - apparently permanently.
Whenever I join a server (or even just run a local game) I have no ability to input commands into the game (all the main menus work fine, however). I can't move the mouse pointer, etc. Otherwise the game runs as normal (it is definitely not frozen).
Also, when using any shortcut to the game (the main .exe seems to work fine), I now get an error saying "memory.dll is missing" on launch.
I've reinstalled Battlefield 2 v1.5 (although not PR, as this seems to be a Battlefield 2-related issue) and reinstalled and updated Punkbuster several times, although so far haven't had any success.
Any help in solving these issues would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks,
Shock
Currently running 32-bit Windows 8.

Re: No In-Game Input and Missing Memory.dll
Have you tried resetting all your controls? If that doesn't work, tried deleting your controls.con? Reinstalling BF2 wouldn't have cleared your control settings afaik

Also, why, in 2013... is anyone installing a 32bit operating system?

Cleaning out the Windows registry fixed the problem. Yay.
