I've been flying with mumble on PR for a while now, and normally its not too bad but more recently I can't hear other players on local chat for the life of me. I've tried lowering in game volume for sound effects, which didn't do much, the only other thing I thought of is to increase mumble volume, but when I'm not flying its already really loud and clear anyway so don't want to ramp it up much higher.
Any tips?
Thanks

Re: Mumble when flying
Using local while moving fast, like flying, causes the position you are talking from, to be far more behind your actual location. It kind of lags behind the chopper and cannot keep up with your real position. This causes people to be very quiet. As soon as you are standing still you will hear them next to you again.
THe problem with the loud truck or chopper sounds cannot be fixed, unless it is lowered in 1.0. It's annoying indeed, since you need high volume in CQB to hear enemy footsteps etc. but as soon as a chopper comes by, your ears are gonna bleed to death. I got an own solution for that.
I am using a hotkey script with different soundmodes. By switching through them with predefined hotkeys, it adjusts the sounds of Mumble, TS and BF2 using the volume mixer of W7. So I made myself a nice configuration of 4 modes. First one is for normal INF battles. Second one got slightly increased TS and Mumble volume, for example if standing close to vehicles, to be able to hear the others better. Third one loweres the BF2 sound to a minimum, thats for travelling in vehicles, so you understand your mates. Fourth one I call "Danger Close", I use it if I am in a very dangerous situation with enemies really close around me, where I need total silence in TS and Mumble. Instead of crying to STFU everyone, I activate it and TS and Mumble will be at a minimum and almost not hearable.
Works very good.

Hmm, Spook...genius I must say!
Usually I go the old school road of just alt-tabbing and adjusting manually when I am about to spend a longer time (5+ minutes or so) in a vehicle.
But this is very clever and I might use it...IF I find out how to set-up these hotkeys with the W7 sound mixer =)

Re: Mumble when flying
Personally, I just need to be able to bind several keys for one same voice chat type in pr_mumble. Currently, the only thing we can bind with several keys is the local speech, why ? Will it be fixed for 1.0 ?
