Identification and Observation of the enemy

Post by waldov »

At the current moment the means for a team to share and relay intelligence about enemy movement and positions to each other is extremely limited in PR. Mumble has effectively overcome sharing information within a squad but the Teams ability to be aware of enemy positions and movements is majorly limited currently. I was wondering if there is any plans of overcoming this flaw in PR in the future or if anyone has any ideas. The vanilla BF2 system was far too unrealistic to reintroduce but the current system is too primitive and gives a far too vague idea of where the enemy really is.

Having to estimate ranges to the target and identify what it is is great but its use to the team is too limited for effective team cooperation. I think it would be great if more information could be associated with observations such as:
-Number of enemy's identified
-Time elapsed since being observed
-whether it is moving or stationary
-whether it is engaged or not
-Maybe even direction of movement

Other things that could be good to have would be allowing civilians to spot even if they are not squad leaders. Also there should be more of a prompt when things are spotted such as a voice over like "enemy positions identified over" and then it says to check your map to see where the enemy is. Hopefully people could be more inclined to observe enemy's and the team as a whole could have better situational awareness. The UAV would also increase in effectiveness. I dont know how much of this is possible but it would be great to see some improvements with the current observation system.A new system will be essential for 1.0 if the binoculars are removed and i think it will be great to see people more reliant on there team instead of being 1 man observation posts. So id be keen to hear what the plans for observation will be in 1.0 and what other people have to say about the current system because a lot of potential for improvement is available in this factor of PR.

Waldov you have been given plenty of subtle hints that you need to follow the approved process for making suggestions.

Your eyes must be painted on :P

Hopefully the above message isn't subtle. Please don't make any more suggestions in the incorrect forum.
