Another map like Fallujah

Just have to put it out there that Fallujah is my favorite map from PR. It verges on perfect i mean theirs nothing flawed about it and the map realistically simulates urban combat in Iraq. I was wondering if there's a chance of seeing another map like Fallujah in 1.0 or even an updated version or Alt version of the current Fallujah map. Fallujah could even have AAS potential considering the scale of the battle IRL. So does anyone know anything about this map or maps like it in 1.0?

Image

Look at the reference the mini map is almost identical! Thats the level of quality here so it'd be nice to see some love for this map.

It is actually Duckhunt's map. Rhino pushed it threw the finish line! :p But both indeed did an awesome job. My favorite INS map.

I didn't make Fallujah, duckhunt (the guy who made Al Basrah) did, I just fixed it up and lightmapped it etc when ducky whent off to train for the Royal Marines.

I do have an idea for a somewhat simliar map in the future, although at the same time, very diffrent, but if I ever get round to making it is anouther matter as I have a lot of work to finish off before I can really think about it :p

In fact I have two map ideas somwhat like this now I think about it that have been flying around in my head for some time, but only serisly considering one of them for the future :p

I really wish there were more maps like Fallujah in that it's a balanced set of infantry and assets, rather than being an asset whoring map or infantry-layer.

Yeah Fallujah and AL-Basra are such great maps obviously this duckhunt character knew what he was doing. It would be really nice to see an ALT and AAS mode for Fallujah IMO. Is there any reasons this wouldn't be possible?

In my mind i was thinking something like this:

Fallujah west AAS:
Image

USMC 500 tickets
4xHumvee(5 min respawn)
2xLogi(5 min respawn)
2xAAV (10 min respawn)
1xM1A2 (15 min respawn)
1xBradely (10 min respawn)

JDAM support

Iraqi insurgents 750 tickets
4xCar (5 min respawn)
2xTechnicals (10 min respawn)
1xmortar technical? (20 min respawn)
1xSPG (10 min respawn)
1xBomb truck (10 min respawn)
1xBomb car (15 min respawn)

2xSVD
2xArtillary IED
2xRPG
2xPKM
1xRPG-29?

Mortar support (off field)

The Insurgents would have to defend 4 flags in this order
Western suburbs 100m (once taken it is Uncappable)
Red cross 150m
Suburbs 200m
Mosque 200m

would be very interesting map IMO.

You have the old minimap Waldov, that's from back in the day where we could throw molotovs over the walls into their mainbase. Make sure the insurgents have caches near their objectives for the weapons at all times. And give them more special weapons. Otherwise they'll get overrun within the hour.

I dont know the insurgents seem to do pretty well as it is if the team is good and im saying they should have even more stuff so i think it could balance out. I just think an AAS mode for Fallujah would be so awesome and add more options for gameplay.

i dont know if i am a fan of this map, i wouldn't mind it except for the aav-7 and its grenade launcher having really annoying splash damage. I think it would be a lot more fun if there was less armor on this map and more humvee's to replace them because right now as insurgents you are really restricted on your movement about the map.

wow, did not know that there was an actual ref region used for this map. Always thought the map was build by imagination and ref pictures from inside the city somewhere.

Cool stuff, I guess its time to pack my stuff and pay this place a visit...just need to find my kevlar vest.

Fallujah West on Cryengine would be sick in PR2!

Dust effect, shadows and lighting, no limitations of map things, endless areas to explore, realism, different costume disguises, civillians with different clothes customization, oh boy!

show me that you can do all that in cryengine at the same time and I'll drool with you :p Cryengine has it's limitations too ;) People should stop seeing it as the god-engine :D

this is my opinion but!

can we please, have some revamps of existing maps. look at the west of the map. we need those fields and hedges and a little extra detail would be nice.

muttrah and fallujah would be great if the most popular maps had a little love. We already have sucessful maps, sometimes i feel if we have another carrier attack map similar to muttrah its pointless.

im sure people could name a few maps ingame.

You'll notice quite a few existing maps with changes/updates in v1.0. Unfotunately Falljah is not one of them because we don't have the original map files and it would require a LOT more work. Plus, the map already has some performance issues so adding more objects and bushes would only make that worse. But when v1.0 comes out I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the updates and new layers on existing maps. :)

thanks mate you have more than delt with my comment. thanks for all the hard work. You devs so mysterious. I hope you see where im coming from, when i say that as good as PR is perhaps there are only so many scenarios map wise that are worth making given each map takes years , and that old favourites remain strong infact much stronger than many newer additions.

Maybe the golden age of PR mapping has been reached? Personally i feel that the taliban maps were a whole new scenario to add something to the game. Certainly the biggest broadest stroke of the PR brush in sometime.

new maps that are sucessful often feel like reinventions of old maps as we learn the game and engine (royal we)

If i said VADSO city feels derivative would i be wrong or that maybe pavlosky bay doesnt feel right.

Certain maps are kinda well antiquated i.e. op archer. now that scenario is a good one it would be great if it was used for inspiration, as kashan was to become a bench mark for combined arms.

Well I guess I can settle for that as long as there is more game play options especially for insurgency maps. Ill just go with the assumption that DEVs know best

Well, I am smart indeed to figure it out, but because I have never ever developed a mod, that quote may be subject to change. There is no impossible. I am dedicated to researching about map-making so I can create a map in that engine. I'll do this on my spare time when I feel like it. I'll start now.

Good Luck mate! I've got something in the works myself, the engine does have limitations, I just haven't found them yet! :D
