smoke useless on low effects
Let's not talk about the morality of this we all know some think it's unsporting others like to gain an advantage however they can.
If this is debated I suspects mods will have to lock it.
So, most of us know with effects on low you don't see smoke so that the guy using it to hide can in fact be seen by people on low. After being shot quite a few times through smoke recently I want to discuss this. From the graphics level poll we have about 9 per cent of responders on low or low middle.
Can the low effects setting be removed if so how many players with low end machines would suffer?
Can smoke grenades be tweaked to remove this advantage?
Should smoke grenades be removed as many don't know this or like me forget in the heat of battle?
Should we have an anonymous poll to see who runs low for advantage and who for necessity?

Or, if I'm allowed to make a little suggestion here: Can smoke grenades be tweaked to be more useful at low settings?

The low setting was removed in 1.0 for some options as revealed in the changelog.
User Ubaydah: "I used to play Call of Duty a lot and Battlefield 3. I am really good at those games 10th prestige, High K/d., I can kill people easily, etc. But on PR, for me, to be honest, I kind of suck."
User Not_able_to_kill: "Frontliner, you like evil man who comes to family house during christmas, takes out tree because it's too happy, so they can be just as sad as you"

Re: smoke useless on low effects
if you have LOW settings, I mean ALL settings on low you can see smoke, you may not see the same smoke you see with high settings but you can see smoke with low settings, I'm telling you because I've been playing with everything on low for the last 4 or 5 years until I bought a new PC a few months ago.
what you can't see on low settings is the fog, for example in the southern caves in Tad Sae Offensive

Smoke will not render when you are 100+ meters.
I have tried it my self but my eyes started to bleed to much from the low graphics so I turned everything on high

I do not think the result will be truly representative but it is a good idea.PLODDITHANLEY wrote:Should we have an anonymous poll to see who runs low for advantage and who for necessity?
Ghost Recon 1 and other fps have had the same problem, some guys lowered the level to decrease smokes and vegetation .
If you have an old computer, you can not play more pr soon cuz the graphic options are hijacked by GTX680 gamers ^^

Re: smoke useless on low effects
I have always played PR on all low because I had to.
Now, having a new PC I play everything on high.
When you play on all-low you have the advantage of grass not showing at a certain distance thus making it easy for you to spot/kill people that hide in it (Qwai River anyone?)
But on the other hand, you will never see muzzle flashes, explosions, grenade explosions in the distance and that gives you a disatvantage. I never felt like I could see through smoke.
First time playing on all high was a completely new experience because suddenly I could spot people that were shooting very easily because of the smoke puffs that come out of the weapon.
That makes it kind of balanced imo, with both (all high, all low) having advantages and disatvantages - however, if you set your effects on high and your terrain/whatever on low, you only have the advantages (short overgrowth render distance, see smokepuffs and grenades and shit) and this feels like exploiting to me.

Yeah... I was sniping once with a friend on Muttrah and we spotted enemy squad. I took down their SL and they tried to revive him so they threw smoke. I was like: damn it, they threw smoke and they're gonna revive him. And my friend reposnded with surprise in his vioce: what smoke?! Give me that rifle (it was my trun to snipe). I refused to give it to him because it was unfair
.
And what do you mean by that?spawncaptain wrote:The low setting was removed in 1.0 for some options as revealed in the changelog.
