Hello everyone,

I'm a veteran player that hasn't played in over a year. To help those coming back to PR I'd like to start a post with a guide to help re-acclimate players coming back to PR with the help of the community.

What I'm looking for are some of the key changes that a player coming back to PR needs to know. I will edit this first post with tips from the community so that we can help veteran players transition back to playing this awesome mod.

I play under the following names: [TG]PaveHawk718, [TG]A_Bad_Samaritan, or [PR]PaveHawk.

-Only 64 players can have name tags.

-Nametags do not display on players who joined after 64 players. (Map positions are still 99% displayed; fixing bugs with the last 1% -Jafar)

-Medics have only 6 patches now.

-Deviation got a big change. You can shoot more accurately and no more spraying bullets in a 60 degree angle to your gun

-FOBs/Caches can only be dstroyed by explosives and other heavy assets.

-Attack helicopters dont carry AA missiles anymore.

-Rallys are permanent now and get destroyed when 1 enemy is in 25, 50 and 100m distance (1km, 2km and 4 km map)

-Wheeled Helicopters have proper realistic moving wheels now.

- The new MG kit is a more deadly version of the AR, especially in a defensive position, long range or in ultra close combat, while it has less ammo and problems with fast aimed fire.

-Most (if not all) AT weapons have now working distance setting. Just press Q in aimed mode to change distance. All AT weapons with scopes have also correct scopes now.

-Before going into a room full of blue with twitchy trigger finger(rightfully so), announce you are going into room in local chat first.

*Mumble Tips*

-Mumble default shortcuts are H for local, NumPad 0 for squad chat.
For SLs, NumPad numbers are for corresponding SLs, * for all squads (use this rarely please), and / for the Commander (if present).

-You can edit the key shortcuts to your liking by using Alt + Tab after loading into a server and opening Mumble from your hidden icons in your taskbar tray (bottom right). Go to "Configure" -> "Shortcuts". I highly recommend adding a "mute self" and "deafen self" shortcut so you don't have to listen to the sometimes idiotic ramblings during change of map and before map start.

-For inter-squad SL to SL chat, I highly encourage calling like this, "Squad 2, this is Squad 7,". Reply "Squad 7 this is Squad 2, go ahead". Send your traffic. This is great instead of just sending your message right away and it possibly going unheard because the other squad leader is either giving orders, or being inundated with his squad's chat, or engaged in a firefight.

-You can check to see if you're still muted by looking at the bottom right of your screen in-game. If there isn't a speaker icon with a red X, you're good to go.

-Also, if your Mumble crashes and your mouse starts to track sluggishly, you'll get the same speaker icon with red X. 99% of the time Mumble will restart itself within seconds and you're fine.

-Local Mumble speech/chat can't be heard by enemies.

Erm, if you didnt play for the last year, you didnt miss any major release before 1.0 beta. So this post cantains pretty much anything you need to know:

It's a sad statement about the community that no one has posted a tip. What happened to the PR community that used to be so helpful?
Its really hard because there is so much stuff new :D .
-Not only the Nametags but the mappositions also are gone for those players.

I guess thats the most important here.

There is a reloading bug when you change your stance to/from prone due to new cool 1st person animation when you go prone or stand up (Falklands minimod).
Wheeled Helicopters have proper realistic moving wheels now (same as in Falklands minimod).
Russians can't spawn at RU Firebase on Black Gold AAS.
Pecheneg for Chinese faction is a template for Type 98.
US Army hasn't won Ramiel INS yet due to simple fact that AK>everything in CQC.

Thanks so far to everyone that's posted, please keep them coming. And my comment about the sad statement about the community was in regards to the fact that there were 90 views for this post but not one tip. But I knew the community would step up.

I could argue about that. I personally tested this and I could see the "tagless"players on the map - huge 8 and blue dot next to him - as I was looking straight at them. Not sure where is that info from...

Are you serious? TG abandons the mod and you insult the loyal people who stuck around through the huge dry spell?

How about you read my other post. I also will add that I am in no way shape or form part of the TG leadership. Just someone that joined the community because I liked there style of play and the people there. I had nothing to do with them dropping the server.

Lots of TGers kept playing after the TG server was closed down (not "abandoned").

If you're having mumble issues alt tab open it from hidden icon and check your sound inputs and outputs mine keeps defaulting to in built portable microphone not the headset one.

Also running wizard helped out with level, if you adjust sound from BF interface it does only voip so nothing on PR 1

My bad. I didnt do enough testing and was assuming it, sorry.

I think the mumble stuff Desmo posted is also really important.

-(almost) all weapon sounds got changed, so you have get used to identify gunshots.
(In 0.98 I knew how every weapon sounds, even could distinguish snipers on the sound of the rifle, but know I have to start from the scratch again :smile :)

Cheers for mumble tips, what does H = local mean ? all your team can hear you ? also aint numpad 0 = squad chat just same as the default B push to talk, cheers

Yes, squad chat is like the old push to talk for your squad.

Local means that anyone near you, no matter which squad, can hear you. This is limited to a short distance, and is mostly used to communicate with medics and crewmen/pilots outside of your own squad, or with squad members of your own or other squads who are near you (such as for directing fire).
This local speech is directional, i.e. you can hear from which direction the message is coming. This can be useful to guide people ("follow me!", "Medic, I'm over here!", "Hey, APC, wait, I'm not in yet!")
Enemies can NOT hear the local chat.

Cheers, so i dont need to use B for push to talk ? was that for vanilla bf2 then.

In the PR settings, you can assign the push to talk feature to a hard-to-reach key, because you won't need BF2's push to talk feature on almost all servers. Then you can go into the mumble settings and set B as one of your mumble keys, if you wish. Or use any other key, as per preference.

Keep the tips coming. I can honestly say this has helped me get back into the swing of things. I just hope it has helped others.
