PR 1.0 Problems Launching
Hey all,
Installed PR 1.0 and the launcher works and the game updates but whenever I hit play it loads to a black screen and pretty much crashes my computer so I have to restart to get rid of it. Any ideas? I'm running Windows 7 Service Pack 1. So stoked to play and can't wait until I can fix this problem!!!

On advice of the guys who wrote the PRLauncher code, NEVER EVER DO THE FOLLOWING IN THE QUOTES BELOW, it will 100% break your profile.
THE REAL SOLUTION IS THIS: If you need to changer your video.con manually, you need to completely delete the Documents\ProjectReality directory, and reimport your profile either through importing from your vanilla bf2 profile, or through the recovr from GameSpy optin in the PRlauncher.

I believe your video.con resolution is set incorrectly.
try this:
Go to Documents\ProjectReality\Profiles\Default
delete Video.con
Go to Documents\ProjectReality\Profiles\0001
delete Video.con
Restart PR.
Let us know.

Alright I tried that and now I get an error message saying
1322: Error verifying profile settings. Please confirm the profile files are not read-only and try again.

Update:
I checked and the project reality folder in my documents is a read-only folder right now, and if I try and change that it the properties it always defaults back to read-only after I've changed the settings. Any ideas?

Start the game on the launcher.
Go to your EA GAMES\Battlefield2\folder (with your launcher still running)
Right-click PRBF2.exe
Go compatibility mode, uncheck WinXP Mode.
Press play on the launcher.
Everytime you quit the game, you gotta do the steps above.
Hope it helps.

Seems like there is some wisdom to this post, but no luck for me. I'm still just getting past the new PR logo and crashing when I start to hear music and my mouse starts revolving.BigLouieG wrote:Start the game on the launcher.

Re: PR 1.0 Problems Launching
I have honestly tried all the suggestions and I'm still getting the same problem. I have also tried creating a whole new profile, and still the same issue. PR beta worked fine, but I have no idea what is happening with this. Any other suggestions? Still really want to play PR.

Re: PR 1.0 Problems Launching
Having the same issue. If I launch the PRBF2.exe I can actually get the game up, but of course it tells me to use the launcher, and promptly quits. And when I use the launcher, it goes to the spinning mouse, bit of music, and crashes.
I've tried all of the supposed fixes mentioned in this and other threads, nothing works.
EDIT: Never mind. Tried the most obvious thing that rarely ever does anything otherwise, disabling my AV. Seems to have done the trick.

Re: PR 1.0 Problems Launching
I've just done the same as you. First I deleted my profile, retrieved it from BF2 and then adjusted my video settings manually in the Project Reality folder to 1920x1080@75Hz. Disabled AV AND firewall and it worksQaiex wrote:Having the same issue. If I launch the PRBF2.exe I can actually get the game up, but of course it tells me to use the launcher, and promptly quits. Re: PR 1.0 Problems Launching
Here is what I had to do to fix it. To start off, when I opened PR from it always turned to a black screen and just froze my computer. To fix this I first disable AV AND firewall which allowed me to see the intro movie and hear the music and see the mouse animation but then the game still wouldn't work. Next had to open my task manager while the game was still running in window mode, find PR.exe in the list of processes and change its compatibility from windows XP while everything was still running. Now it works fine and I can get to the menu, etc. Looks like every time you have to go into the task manager and change the compatibility when you start the game up.
