The bug is that on the map the squadleader icons do not appear at all.

Often times icons will not show on the map for me either. Never much of a problem except when I heard a sniper behind a hill, checked my map, no friendlies, chucked my grenade, and behold: a team kill. Oh well, I probably helped my team killing that sniper.

This happened once in a while on 0.98 too... but usually isn't permanent and fixes itself on map change or server restart. If it happens, you can open the squad screen and click on your squad leader's name and his dot will turn white on the map. It's not as obvious but will get you through the game.

No, it does not do that, I tried it, i promise.

Instead of the squadleader icon there is NOTHING at that point.

Imma get a screenshot as soon as i can

This bug is quite common, happens often.

Problem can be solved by restarting PR.

.. and that's why bug still exists.
Devs should update this awkward bug in near future.

I get this same bug once in a while. I can't tell how exactly I get it, but I think it may have something to with being in for example squad 1 and then got team-switched or you self switch teams and then join in squad 1 and then you can't see your squad leader's dot on map even when highlighting name.

This happened to my squad last night playing Dovre. I was SL and only 2 members of my squad could not see my SL icon on the minimap. Very frustrating to have to tell people where I was all the time :(

Re-installing Pr helped me to solve this bug.

I can play like one round without the bug and then on a second round bug is there.
I was playing as a squad leader and I couldn't see myself on map :D
Try to find yourself around then, easy huh?
I'm going to re-install PR again. Deleting manually mods/pr folder if there still is something left. Deleting my documents bf2 cache as well.
I never had this bug on 0.9
As a clue to your own location on the map. You are in the middle.

I have noticed this also but i tend to know whos who in the squad by the kit as the SL has the radio on his back and areial sticking out. Also first thing i try to do is look at my squad mates as there uniform changes in different light. If I see something not that colour i shoot it.

All friendlys on the mini map would be better but how it is now i'll take the benifit of having 100 player servers and adjust the way I play than not.

AFAIK all friendlies show up on the map, no matter if 64, or 100. The SL icon bug is unrelated due to the fact that I have experienced it since 0.95. Sometimes it fixes after mapchange, sometimes you have to restart PR.

I just experienced this for the first time. It's really bad >< I'm so used to charging toward my SL with the big circle.

Thx I'll restart PR because I can't live without that big circle.

I've had this bug before, and it can be annoying as hell to have to see if you can't find some SL on the map every time you play PR,then get irritated when you can't and either live with it or restart PR in hopes it fixes it.But I've noticed a way I find to avoid/fix it.Simply clear your shader cache before running PR.

I would usually load a map on local to load the shaders before I go join a server, and this bug usually doesn't occur.I have noticed loading a coop map to load the shaders seems to cause nearly all squad leaders to be invisible, but loading an AAS Map and such that doesn't involve coop, then switching to coop with loaded shaders seems fine and a way to know that no SL's are invisible. But usually I'd just:
1.clear the shaders
2.start PR
3.load an AAS map on local server
4.check if squad 1's SL icon is visible on the map after creating a squad and spawning
4.disconnect to main menu and play PR

This method seems to work even better in 1.0 compared to 0.98,where i frequently found this bug.In 1.0 usually all SL's are visible after starting and playing PR this way,at least for me.In 0.98,frequently one squad might be invisible with the rest being visible after this method is used whenever I had this problem. It also seems that outside of loading a coop map without loading the shaders first on an AAS map, this bug happens less often in 1.0 with this method(for me,very rarely in 1.0,compared to often in previous versions)than in 0.98. Said bug with coop and SL's occurred in both versions.

If your not sure how to clear the shaders, open the PR launcher, click on support, then the utilities tab at the top, then click on perform task for clear shader cache. And it's probably not a bad idea to perform all those tasks before running PR.

Fixed for me by deleting all .con files from My documents/ProjectReality/profiles/000X, except Audio.con, Controls.con, Profile.con and Video.con.

Interesting,I used to try deleting the entire folder for bf2/PR that was in my documents and recovering the profile. This bug always came back if I didn't delete the shader cache before startup when I started the game again after the shaders were loaded.Does this last,or does it reoccur and require to delete those files again like how I always delete the shader cache I wonder?

I have zero idea why it works, but it has worked twice now.

Are you sure, i thought any player joining after slot 64 will not show on map, so if 100 on server, when i get player in my sights, if no friendly tag they must be enemy correct ?

Everyone shows on the map usually, what your thinking of is name tags.On the 100p servers in previous versions where you could still see name tags within a certain distance without aiming at someone, everyone after slot 64 would have no name tag. This is still the case in 1.0,as it's something unchangeable so far with bf2 I think, but since you have to aim at someone within a short distance in 1.0 to see their name at all,it's less obvious a problem. But everyone shows on the map, unless a SL icon isn't showing up,as discussed here.

i usually have a 50/50 chance of getting this bug. it usually happens ont he same rounds where flags dissapear too. only neutral flags show.
