Cannot use ALT kit

Hey people,

I know this forum section is overflowing right now but I couldn't find a solution to my problem by own research yet.
After having some really wierd issues with the desura download that messed my whole Bf2 folder resulting in a reinstall, I finally managed to download the PR1.0 iso from Gamershell today and installed it using a virtual image tool. Because it couldnt read the VCredist files from the iso, I had to extract and install them manually. So far for now.

Mod works like a charm in coop, mindblowing experience, awesome work.
But for some reason I just can't use the alternative kit. When clicking the button in the spawn menu the tab will become marked and the sights/gun changes but on spawn I will still have the std version of the kit. Tried left click/right click, several factions and classes. Always the same.

I checked the whole manual but it couldn't get me any further with this.

So, is this just a bug for me, a known issue or is there a clue how to get this working? Something I did wrong?
Only played SP/COOP so far.
