Mic only makes squeaking noises in-game.

So I've been playing 1.0 for a few days now and everything was fine until today when I signed on and no one could hear me except for a little squeaking sound every time I would try to speak. Previously there was no hint of a problem. So I went into my audio settings to do a mic test and it would only play back that squeaking noise. I restarted my computer and tried again but then it wouldn't even make THAT sound, so now it's just completely silent. I tested the mic in other programs and it works fine. It has the same problem in vBF2. I have no idea what's going on. I'm using a simple headphone/mic setup. For some reason, the mic wasn't being recognized and instead it was trying to use the mic in my webcam. After unplugging it, the squeak went away and it's totally silent. I have the mic set as my default recording device, and it was working just fine before today.

Oh, and now I can't even hear other people when they use their mics.

The mic test worked, and then later stopped working completely.

I'm just reinstalling the whole damn game because that seems to be the only thing I can do.

OPen PRMumble manually,
Battlefield 2 Complete Collection\mods\pr\bin\PRMumble\PRMumble.exe

Open Windows Volume Mixer,
Check to make sure your mic is set to default

Back to PRMumble,
Click Configure->Settings->Audio Input , Check that the INput is indeed the headphone mic and not the webcam, make sure you choose WASAPI and not DirectDeviceInput
Click Apply.

Join PR online and test.

I tried all that before reinstalling the game and nothing worked. After reinstalling it, I played around with some settings and that somehow fixed it. Not sure what I did that made it work but it seems to work fine now.
