Why do people insist playing 'Skirmish'-maps?

I think it completely destroys the mod. Whats the fun of infantry 32v32 on 1km map?

Never heard of that in reality...


But its preference I assume, but every time I see Kokan being played with a decent number of players, its always the same god damn Infantry skirmish

Skirmish maps are used to seed servers because they work with low numbers of players.

I haven't really seen them used for other reasons.

when come back online it loads a skirmish map since they are usually the 1st ones on the maplist

skirmish is fast-paced and full of action

I played skirmish once.


The result was that my cat died, computer bluescreend, my car exploded, water leaks in the entire house, food got destroyed by broken fridge, the heater went through the roof and I lost my job.

Well, it's fast..... and it's fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuunnnnnnn..

Nobody will join a map with 6 players on it that has a size of 4 km.

Skirmish is useful for infantry-training, getting to know the game mechanics and it brings good battles when you are low on players.

Why do people insist playing 'Skirmish'-maps? Because they're awesome.

I like skirmish maps every once in awhile, same as I like insurgency every once in awhile, or vehicle warfare every once in awhile.

It's a change of pace. It's fun.

I've always wanted to do a skirmish tournament. Best two out of three type thing.

And why somebody thinks KOKAN of all maps is good for skirmish is beyond me.

PR:V skirmish (Hill 48 is a common first map choice I find; and a good way to have a little Vietnamese-themed fun ahead of the big boy games.

I think Skirmish should continue to be worked upon to encourage clan skrims - they can be quite fun whilst seeding a server. Much more fun than Al Basrah Insurgency with 12 players...

Skirmish is da shit, I love it and can play it 24/7.

It separates the killers from the boys I love it.

some people dont have hours to play a full map and want to get in the action quick. Skirmish provides that. It is really fun constant combat, how could you not like it, unless you are an asset whore who does nothing but drive armor and cas. But if you're like me and love infantry combat, skirmish can be super fun.

Servers play skirmish maps while seeding their server because playing a 4km map with 10 players on each side is kinda boring.

I think insurgency. For example - Al basrah is best for seeding purposes.

In insurgency and especially when low in numbers people can go around and whatever they want. Perhaps talk with some mates and stuff.

Exactly, throwing the unconventional Taliban into a head on fight makes for some stupidity. It's true they have decent CQB weapons, but their lack of scopes and body armor really hurt them.

I love skirmish map as a main infantry.
IN aas and insurgensy i love playing infantry the most and in skirmish i can practice really well my infantry and close combat skills when on AAS maps it takes much more time to do.
Skirmish is also super fun when you want to relax and get some quick kills !!

Server Crash, so the top of the maplist is usually intentionally Skirmish.
(I know that on Tactical Gamer it is usually Khamisiyah Skimrish)

I love Skirmish on Khamisiyah.... very fun.

Bluedrake should do the same when it's only like 14 guys on his server. I didn't know Skirmish maps were small

It seems I only play skirmish when they're seeding the server after a restart. That being said, it's fun as shit and I wouldn't mind a skirmish map in the middle of a full server just to switch it up a bit. They usually don't last long, and like was mentioned before, it's a great way to practice cqb.

Mostly (from what I have seen) they do this when the server crashed after a reboot (very often) indeed.

skirmish maps on the recommended 8 vs 8 setting are my favorite way of enjoying PR. the 32vs 32 skirmish are just there for a few minuted to trasintion beetween maps, and i dont take them seriusly, maybe use the time to try out a new weapon, or banzai charges.
