Running on a lower resolution.
I haven't played in a while due to shit-tacular performance on my crappy PC. I am wondering if it is possible to still play the game at the same level if I down my resolution to around 1200 x 720 in an attempt to boost my frames; I would have done this earlier but I can't stand the possibility that I could not make out infantry at far distances.

You could always try and see if you can deal with it?

Resolution has nothing to do with view distance, but lowering resolution will increase rendering performance of your gpu and free some Vram.
This should be in support section.

Re: Running on a lower resolution.
i wouldn't recommend to turn down the resolution.
Instead turn down some other things.
"Tetxure quality"
"Dynamic Shadows"
"Dynamic Lights"
With a low resolution you will have a big disadvantage.
And if your FPS drops when shit hits the fan then turn down your "Effects Quality".
When i set it to high and something explodes next to my FPS fall down to 15. <Fallujah West

Re: Running on a lower resolution.
yeah but if he lowers res, he has less pixels, which at distance means less precision, when rendering small objects like a guy

Re: Running on a lower resolution.
Reducing your resolution should help. If you find yourself missing detail, try keeping the same resolution but increase MSAA. If you can spare some cash the best thing is really to upgrade though. You should be able to throw together a decent machine for under $300, and a really nice one for under $800, especially if you frankenstein some of the more reusable components of your current system (mouse, keyboard, display, HDD, ODD). Not sure how prices look across the pond but I imagine it's no worse than €1/$1.

Kill off graphics settings before res. Hell, even use 16 bit color on your PC graphics driver settings before you lower your resolution.

Telling some one to try something for themselves isn't good advice?
