New GPU

Post by Rabbit »

I have a radeon 5800 series, Its very meh, and am thinking about picking up a new card, preferably nvidia. Been looking at this, just want opinions, is it a huge upgrade, is it worth it, is their far better for not much more... You get it, thanks.

For $60 more, you could go with a GTX 760 or something similar. And get over 20 FPS better in BF3 than the $190 GTX 660 you linked to.

The $250 price segment is the sweet spot really as you can get the performance of the GTX 670 for relatively cheap.

And if that is your budget, the gtx650ti boost is basically a 660 with some cudas locked and it costs some less even :-)

Still pretty set on Nvidia though, I like its control panel and ability to change things more. My current Radeon sucks at it.

The HD 7870 Tahiti or the HD 7870 Gigahertz Edition is usually the optimal price/performance winner at that price point.

Depends if you put any value in the Batman Arkham game of the 2 free Silver never settle games from the AMD Radeon cards. NEVER SETTLE FOREVER

IDD about the better software and driver support for Nvidia cards. Which means I'd probably buy the EVGA GTX 660 you posted too.

I thought so, hence my recommendation of the GTX 760 for a mere $60 more than the 660. ;-)

I even included graphs!

Yeah, now I just need to decide between FXAA and MSAA, but MSAA is so pretty. :D

Newegg.com - EVGA 04G-P4-2768-KR GeForce GTX 760 4GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI Support SC 4GB w/ EVGA ACX Cooler Video Card

Think about this card, figured I'd suck it up and not do what I did when I bought my 5800 when 7000 series were coming out.

Pretty good card? The Hell is txaa? I only know about FX and MS, is TX actually as good as they are making it sound?

Because the game is CPU bound, primarily due to drawcalls :)

I grabbed a GTX 650TI and... I have to work out some instability issues with it crashing my system, but when it's working, the performance is awesome. PR looks great, anti-aliasing is beautiful and the frame rate is decent.

I can't wait to get this baby working... for now I've turned view scale way down so I can keep battling on with my Q43/Q45 built-in crappy graphics.
