This has actually bugged me for a while, and figured I'd see what others thought about it.
Personally, I think the speed at which the soldiers move while sighted up is a bit too slow. Mostly this comes into play when engaged in CQB (room/building clearing) where some speed is essential. The reason hip fire tends to win the day in most CQB situations is because the speed at which the enemy can get on top of you while unloading. Once they're close enough, traditional accuracy is out the window as you're pretty much at the end of the barrel and ready to catch the lead coming out.
I just find it a bit annoying to move at a snail's pace through a building while sighted up. Not saying we should be able to move at regular speed, but some faster movement would be preferred.

You move at normal speed while crouched or prone while sighted but not while standing up.

Its only while you have the backup sight active that it slows you down. While looking through the scope its the same as .98

It's actually while scoped up period. And yes I've noticed crouching while scoped up seems to make you move faster, but it's a tad annoying with that level of head-bob.
I understand we don't need troops running around full speed while sighted up, but a tad more speed is useful while doing something like room clearing or something similar where moderate speed is necessary. At least on iron sights/cqb optics.

Red dot overlay while not sighted in. Problem solved.

Re: Movement while sighted up
I agree, it feels very slow, I also agree with sacrificing speed for accuracy but I still think we could move a bit faster, just put your hands up like you are holding a rifle and move through a room, you still got your rifle up against your shoulder right?
Best thing imo would be to instead of giving option for sights ( keep that in spawnmenu with alt/primary weapons) give different stances:
1.hipfire, firing from hip, no scope no weapon against shoulder -fastest speed
2.weapon against shoulder, not looking through scope but looking beside the weapon(Like counterstrike if i remember correctly). -medium speed but faster than current scoped in.
3. scoped in like normal. -current speed/ a bit faster
Now if this is possible is another question

Re: Movement while sighted up
I don't believe I should have to sacrifice one in order to attain the other in the degree in which it currently exists. Right now it's either crawl into the room at an ungodly slow speed with some accuracy, or run in hip firing praying your shots hit the enemy.
Most infantry units train for this kind of thing and can execute building/room clearing with a moderate amount of speed, at least in a quicker fashion than we're currently allowed with our sights up.
Once again, this may be engine limitation, but it's something that I think could use some improvement.

You can only have sighted and unsighted in BF2.
