Some sound effects need to be louder...

Post by OverwatchX »

IMHO I think some sound effects need to be a little louder than other to set them apart.

1) Jets

2) Helos

3) Footsteps (walking and running)

Sometimes, a helo will buzz over or fly near by while you are searching the sky for it and it seems much to quiet. Same foe jets, I think.

I can modify these and send them to the team for review if requested. Thanks for a great mod.

well "realistically" everything needs to be louder, the explosions, the weapons, but there is a point where reality needs to be toned down...those people who have done large live fire excersizes know that you can be deaf after a good live fire ex :)

Realistic sounds would result in physical damage to your ear and after 2 matches you'd probably be deaf without ear plugs.

So no. And the A10, my god talk about annoying.

On the Note of footsteps, wouldnt it be better if you were actualy quieter when you crouched? All what happens now is that your footsteps are just longer appart in sound.

Yeah i agree,

1. Jet after burners are seriously loud (At an airshow i went to displaying harriers tornados and the Lynx the harrier and tornado you could here a mile away when you were a few meters away it seriously hurt ear drums :-D )
2.Weapons the Ak47 and G3 are no quiet weapons those things are very loudhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZC5W3k2Vxg <G3, The AK47 well im sure youve heard that enough on the daily news.
3.Helos well i cant say ive had experience with the Apache or Havoc but ive heard the Lynx not that loud to be honest.
4.Grenades should be a very loud BOOOOMB and every time one lands near you should get a little shout from your guy "GRENADE!!!"

Thats it in my oppinion,

Put on headphones. Turn your volume up to the max. If your ears hurt, turn it down a little. thats what i do. Helos are fine, and if jets were louder, it'd be completely ridiculous. maps are too small, and the jets would always be close enough to have a huge engine roar in your ears.

I cant turn it up too much because the radio chatter gets too loud then (but thats another post - lower the radio chatter volume - I digress)

I use headphones while I play. I think that you can hear helos too far away. It might be realistic to hear them far away but the game play suffers. You can't hear so clearly other important sounds while a chopter somewhere near you (= couple of blocks away). I also think that it's hard to say where the helo is if you are using stereo headphones (no EAX) and you cant see the chopter.

Footsteps should make more noise. It's really annoying that you can't hear your enemys movement. Crouching or moving in prone should be as silent as it's now to enable sneak attacks.

The A10 sounds soo dirty. i love it.

If u have a sub & 2 speakers & sound not too high u can feel the explosions going off in the background, but for people with standard spakers i think it should be upped some more.

That can be turned down in the options I think, the VOIP chatter can anyway, just lower your recieve volume level.

If the stuff gets louder it can/will hurt peoples ears. Most people will just turn it down if that is the case, making it pointless.

You complain about the radio chatter while others complain about the A-10. Someone will always think one thing is too loud or too quiet.

I say leave it as is, let people get headphones and such, (the spatial recognition is worth it if anything else anyway,) and adjust the volume accordingly.

Tanks are not loud enough, all around, come on guys there 60-70 tonne steel behemoths, they need to rumble, and scare the **** out of you.
The Cannons are not loud enough, we need the sound effects for fireing a sabot, you should be able to hear it ripping through the air.
When A HEAT round goes off it should be very loud and scare the **** out of you.
Distant gunshots, and explosions should be louder. Steel jackets striking Steel materials should be louder.
I'v shoot steel gongs with Steel jacket ammunition and it deffinatly makes some loud impacts.
The Coxial Mg's do not sound right for the Tanks, they need to be louder, more realistic as they are still vanilla, and you should be able to hear spent caseings pinging around.

A10's perfect as it is for powerplant noise, but I think that the GAU-8 needs to sound a little more beefy while fireing.

I agree, the tank engine needs a newer better sound. I remember the engine sound of the Tiger in FH whenever you started it up, man that made my day. VRUUMMMM VRUMMM!!

As has been said before if we make the sound volume realistic then you will be deaf or at least hurting severely at the end of one round. I like to think of the current volume as if you were wearing earplugs

Lol, you would have to wear ear plugs while playing PR because it would be so loud.

form fitting earplugs that take out the low end and high range of sound. Leaving mid for clarifying voice. If not, then simulate hairs in inner ear standing on end and muffling sound for 10 minutes or for life. Irreversible hearing damage in .6 FTW!!
