3 servers visible on server list

Post by =MeRk= Morbo5131 »

Last night I had to switch out my router, this is probably the root cause (see what I did there?) of the problem. I have tried forwarding all the appropriate ports for BF2, are there any more required?

I managed to get on the =MeRk= server last night after refreshing the list multiple times, but I've not seen it since I last disconnected, join by ip doesn't work either.

My PR installation is up to date, I've tried disabling my firewall & av applications to no avail

And what is the new router make and model number?

A large number of Buffalo, Belkin and some Netgear routers will block the BF2 server browser,
try to see if you use the PRSPY button on the top right of this forum, if you also are missing servers.

(This worked for me and i don't know if it will work for others)

1. Download 'Portforward Setup Static IP Adress' (completely free)
2. Install it......
3. When you run it, at the bottom there should be a button that says 'Make it Dynamic' click that button and it will make your IP address dynamic.
4. Run the PR launcher and you should get an update.

It should be FIXED!
I'm sorry if it doesn't work for anyone else.

You can also try this, the two gamespy ports being blocked is the usual culprit in this situation:

When is the last time you ran PBsetup to update Punkbuster (first thing you should do when you have a disconnect out of the blue)

Check your router's logs for "**UDP Flood to Host**" or similar warnings ( from:router / connection problem / voip / multiple lan players) Check if your router has "IP Flood Detection" enabled. If so turn it off.

Make sure these ports are open on your router
(my router 'D-link Gamers lounge' auto opens these ports for BF2)

TCP
80,Battle recorder port
4711,Remote console
29900,Client+Server
29901,Client Not in use yet
29920,Server Standard Port
28910, Client
44301= PnkBstrA
45301= PnkBstrB

UDP
1500 - 4999,General use
16567,Game port
27900,Stats port
29900,Gamespy port
29910,gamespy port
27901,Stats port
44301 = PnkBstrA,
45301 = PnkBstrB,

55123,VOIP ports
55124,VOIP ports
55215,VOIP ports

Not sure what ports (TCP/UDP)
port for PnkBstrA = 44301
port for PnkBstrB = 45301
should be, so opened for both

I'll try to think of something else, but anyone reading this thread feel free to jump in with new ideas.
Good luck
From which screen is that showing up in?
From the server browser screen when you click "Update"?[/QUOTE]

And finally, but not likely, if you are using AVG, try this:
'[R-COM wrote:LITOralis.nMd']AVG is blocking PRLauncher and PRUpdater.
To test, completely shutdown AVG and try to contact http://prbf2.cdn.ancientdev.com/hashes_1.0.36.0.prhf again, it should prompt you to download a file hashes_1.0.36.0 (1).prhf .

If with AVG completely shutdown, and you can then download this file, we know it's AVG blocking the PRLauncher and PRUpdater. causing the PRLauncher to return the Error 1301.

  1. Open AVG Internet Security from the Start Menu. You can find it by hovering your mouse over "All Programs."
  2. Double-click "Firewall" to launch the firewall settings.
  3. Click the "Profiles" link on the left, then "Computer in domain," then "Applications."
  4. Click "Add."
  5. Click the "..." button next to "Path" and navigate to the program that you want to allow access to.
    Add the following programs:
    • "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 2 Complete Collection\PRBF2.exe"
    • "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 2 Complete Collection\mods\pr\bin\PRLauncher.exe"
    • "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 2 Complete Collection\mods\pr\bin\PRUpdater.exe"
    For each of the programs above, Select it and click "Open." Click the "Application action" drop-down menu and select "Allow for all." Click "Apply," and then "OK" to save the firewall settings and allow your program.

Router is Netgear WGR-614v9. Thanks for the info, I'll let you know which of these solutions work tomorrow.

The weird thing is, BF2142's server browser is completely fine, doesn't it use the same ports?

Project Reality: PRSPY

and

Battlefield 2 Server List | Search Bf2 Stats, Rankings, and Banners in United States [US] - Game Tracker

can you connect through a browser directly into an online server?

can you connect through the IP of any of the other serves not showing up in the ingame server browser?

Okay, yesterday the problem seemed to have fixed its self overnight, but now it's back. I forwarded ports TCP 28900 and UDP 29900. Now the server list populates with more servers, but not all of them. I'm also unable to join any, via IP, PRSPY or the list its self, I get disconnected with a generic connection lost message.

EDIT: Seem to have fixed it, somewhat. Port 16567 was forwarded as TCP/UDP. Switched it to UDP and the server list now populates. I get the "Check your internet connection" when I first try to join a server though. Oddly enough, the MeRk server still doesn't show up, but I can join by IP.
