Last night I was playing my first round of Insurgency on Fallujah on Insurgent side. Since I yet have to learn all perks and traits of the single classes and Kits i resorted to a standard G3A3 Insurgent and riveted myself to a promising squad.
I have played around offline for a bit to see how basic things worked, trained around for a week straight till I got on my first match so you know in which level I was prepared for what was about to go down. From other titles that had focus on Teamwork and a Chain of Command before PR I allready learned that I as a newb was to follow orders and do what I am told.
The round started and as our Squadleader was sorting spawns and Kits to be taken he asked each squadmember if he had a mic, whoever did not respond to that got kicked, a personal favourite of mine since communication as a squad is the most important part of PR imo. A few words about our squadleader: He was not a boss that commanded us to do things, he was a leader, leading the charges, taking us through backways to the objective and was the first one to get at threads without sending us in as cannonfodder. A true hero and I enjoyed serving under him.
Mid round the squad and I were aproaching some apartment complexes near a cache to clean them out but most of the squad was mowed down by an enemy machienegunner that was located on top of a roof. Only a Collaborator and I were left because I barely made it behind a brick wall to cover me from the lead. Together with him I snuck past the enemy's line of sight, he threw his grappling hook but insisted to move in first since he was the one without a big metal pipe of death in his hands. As he ascended and started vaulting over he was mowed down mercilesly. Time for me to avenge my brothers, tho the gunner was reloading I got stuck on a balcony and had to jump down, hurting my kneecaps in the process. I ascended the house the traditional way: stairs up to the little ladder that would lead to the american threat. I won't lie, he nearly got me as I was climbing up but missed me by inches as I backed down again. And there I was waiting for him to make his move, positioned in a corner that did not give me the best view but advantage: he wouldnt look here first. As his head peaked out, boom, one more dead american enemy. Victorious but viciously hurt and under fire by a DMR my collaborator teammate respawned and roped me down to safety, healing me up again. I avenged a whole squad and I felt good.
After some more pushing and rushing and dieing my Internet connection broke but I never had a single game session that was as rewarding as this single well executed Suad-Gameplay brilliance I enjoyed last night. I was helped, told not to give up both while under heavy fire and downed to receive medic attention. Our Squadleader was challenging us but also the voice of reason and a strong rock in the hard tides of battle we could rely on.
I am looking forward to many more rounds of such brilliance, organized as well as random team-ups and I hope to make some contacts to build a whole squad to play with in the evenings.
Till we meet on the battlefield, I salute you magnificent tactical ******** ~PM
