[Video] FPS drop when shooting at ground

Post by [FSA]IrRahman »

Huge 60FPS to 7FPS drop when shooting at ground.
Imagine what happens when 100p are shooting.
Needs to be fixed.

Well, it looks like before you were shooting the ground you had like 10 fps, so there couldnt be much we could do about that now... I dont have that problem at all with effects. Now I have an old setup, (2600K, 8GB RAM, 2x6870) but that can handle PR1 very good along with BF4 and Cryengine3.

Often from 80-120fps and no slowdown when looking at effects close up. We had one problem with thick smoke some time ago, but we fixed that one.

I took a look at your system specs and the only think I can see that would cause this is your GPU. I havent checked my FPS in the game yet but this doesent happen to me.

EDIT: Your computer cant handle the particles.

Definitely not the new effects, nothing wrong with 'em.

These specs are for my laptop, and I don't use it for PR since 1.0 came out.
Now I record everything with my PC which is good.

If I am not the only one who experiences this kind of problems then there is something wrong with them.

Could you post some more information about this?
What are your system specs/game settings? Does is happen on with any impact effect (different calibers/materials)? What happens with big explosions for you? And maybe try to monitor CPU/GPU to see what causes it.
I get this too, but no way this dramatic. To get a similar fps (120->60) drop i need a whole belt from gpmg and not just a few bursts. I also dont think this is such a huge impact in a real fire fight. The amount of impacts you see there are quite few usually. The amount of soldier and weapon models will surely be more relevant.

It is for every weapon. The FPS drop is different for each material.
For example 60-7FPS drop for concrete/sand and 60-30FPS drop for metal.
I have 2GB GPU, Intel Core-Quad, 6GB RAM.
Some explosions like minigun and Apache cannon also cause FPS drop.

I did some testing and it seems the biggest fps factor here is not the quality of the effect, but the length of it. Currently it lasts 5seconds, reducing this by 50% also decreases the maximum fps loss by roughly 50%.
But even with bf2 effect it still drops ~20fps and that one only lasts 1second+is way lower quality.
