support weapon

Post by zizler »

I thought I read this post on how weak the support gun was so I searched for but I couldn't find it.
A few days ago I set up an ambush with a few friends, 1 had clays the other a grenade launcher and I had a SAW. It happened like so: The clays did their job, the grenade launcher did the rest, after the first 4 people got killed, the other 2 came around the corner, since I was prone all the time I should have been able to kill hem hands down but still one of them killed me. Here is my point, you DEVs made the support class limited since it is limited in real life and because it is very powerful. The support weapon should be a raging bull when you are using it when not prone and when prone it should be able to put down plenty of accurate gunfire. Now the support weapon is almost as good crouching as prone, prone it should be ten fold better then when used crouching.
Great mod, still a lot of tweaking to do, but it's a process of trial and error.

Z out.

Havent had a problem with the SAW ..... i think its great. 1 shot to the head and thats all it takes. it sucks for providing support fire from mid/far ranges, its a bit okay on close ranges but its all down to skill tbh.

What, weak with SAW? That thing's the most powerful gun in the game (not counting M4)

The HK21 that the EU....er.....i mean MEC use is pretty crazy, the best is the Type 88 LMG. I've realised that there's no point in using Ironsights and i've also found out that there seems to be less recoil when not using them. Just use the tracers.

P.s: Try not to make the tracers help the enemy more then they help you. That means staying in the crowd so that tracers are flying everywhere so you can't really be singled out. Going on your own up a tall building with a SAW then letting loose is only going to get everyone on you.

The HK21 is extremely accurate

They're all accurate, just that the HK21 seems to have the most recoil.

That has the most recoil? I'd have to disagree the SAW is insane when fired, I can only get off about 5 shots before I have to recenter the gun. I know that the support guns have a lot of recoil but when your prone and the bipod is down the gun fires pretty steadily. The game I feel has too much recoil on the support guns, the SAW has it the worst IMO.

Imho the HK21 has alot more recoil then the M249 which already has a bit too much.
But if I had to choose between the SAW in 0.32, which had low recoil as far as I remember, and 0.4 I definitely would choose the second one, because the LMG whoring in 0.32 sucked.

Yeah but in .32 it wasn't limited. Maybe now it wouldn't suck that much
Besides, (i don't think this is good) everytime I request the support kit there's one available. Very few people use it (as far as I see while playing)

But the HK21 IMO is the best, at least in this version.
I just miss the RPK a lil bit. Maybe adding it for the insurgents?
So they could have PKMs in CQB maps and RPKs in wide open maps maybe?

This has already been discussed so many time. Yes. The devs know they nerfed the recoil too hard on the support guns. Yes. They are going to fix it.

The problem is there need to be more limitations to the weapon to balance out its strengths. From the prone position you should only be able to swing the weapon around in a limited arc until the bipod is rested in another direction. The gun should have a "heaviness" to it that makes trying to use it like a CQB M4 pretty much useless, kinda like the difference between rotating the turret on the main gun of the M1A2 and the turret of the M2 bradley in vBF2. Firing from standing or prone should only be done in short bursts before your aim goes wild. But most likely the engine isn't capable of any of these things.

Yeah the gun "should" be balanced but come on, its the SAW, a "portable machine gun" it's a BEAST!! I can't wait till the recoil is fixed. I love the Support kit. It feels great being at the end of the squad, ploping out some smokies (wait I don't think support has smoke grenades, o well squad mates threw them) and laying down some suppressive fire at the flag as multiple squads move in for the flag. I may not kill many, but I get a lot of flag capture assists.
