PR 1.1.6.0 LAG!
ok I know that Lag problems isn't new on PR but I was like typing "lag", "lag fix" .... etc a hundred times on the search button with no ultimate fix,
Since I updated to PR 1.0 until now this problem has plagued my joy to play PR, rendered unplayable at most times, as every 5 seconds the game lags whether it was on the Internet or local or co-op
my laptop runs Battlefield 3/ Crysis 3 with no lags at 30-35 FPS
even when i turn every thing to low/off on the graphics and the res to 1024*600 still lags on pr
my laptop specs
Intel Core i5 2450m (2.5 Ghz)
AMD Radeon HD 7160m
4GB DDR3 RAM
WIN 7 PRO 64bit

wow, it seems that we have to wait until an update fixes this problem, so until then playing PR would be very unpleasanttankninja1 wrote:Welcome to the club

Try running MSCONFIG.SYS and disabling all non-microsoft services and see if that helps.hussamsoft wrote:wow, it seems that we have to wait until an update fixes this problem, so until then playing PR would be very unpleasant![]()

This won't give you any real performance unless it's a virus scanner or something, and just because it's not Microsoft doesn't mean your computer doesn't need it.IWI-GALIL.556FA wrote:Try running MSCONFIG.SYS and disabling all non-microsoft services and see if that helps.

It was just a suggestion, one that worked for me. I was having very similar issues and it stopped my lag. Some service kept interrupting my send and receive signals. I was then able to narrow down which service it was. Like I said, it's worth a try.nater wrote:This won't give you any real performance unless it's a virus scanner or something, and just because it's not Microsoft doesn't mean your computer doesn't need it.

not trying to knock your laptop specs but they are avg at best. it seems you would likely need to lower your settings with a duel core 2.5 and only 4 Gb of memory. also you may want to make sure all the unnecessary background stuff is not running and setting your virtual memory could help as well.
I run the game flawlessly but my rig is built for gaming and I could even and likely will upgrade it even more. I have four dimm slots and only using one presently, 8 Gb DDR3.
a program you may like to use to shut down background services if you were unsure what to disable is one I use to use when I ran the game on my old rig is game booster, I'll post a link below.
Razer Game Booster - Free download and software reviews - CNET Download.com
I don't know how you handle your malware/virus so if you're relying on windows defender I don't trust that program much and use malwarebytes. it is a great(free)program that will rid of garbage and PUPs. I suggest if you don't use it, use it. also CCleaner is a great program to keep your system smooth as well as using defraggler. I run all three programs, malwarebytes once a week and the others daily. links below

Re: PR 1.1.6.0 LAG!
Maybe there is more going on.
I run an older system that I built in 07, everything on high, AA is off, though.....
2.6 ghz AMD FX-60 dual core.
Asus A8N 32 SLI Deluxe motherboard
2.0 gb ram
ATI Sapphire X1950 XT 256 mb video
Creative XFI Xtreme Music 7.1 Audio
Windows XP SP3
I really don't get any lag unless the server is loaded with over 70ish players.
Do you notice a difference when you play on a server with 50 players versus 100?

Re: PR 1.1.6.0 LAG!
I know my laptop is not for gaming but it's the only top spec system i have (for now..), but anyway I did lowered it to the lowest settings available and it lags with the same rate, and for some reason playing other even more beefy games doesn't lag like PR, also would like to say it's not a network problem because even when playing a local server with no players it still lags, I had the game booster for ages and it doesn't make any big difference, also I use Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 which is updated daily so its most unlikely to have malware or virusesKillerYaNk wrote:not trying to knock your laptop specs but they are avg at best. it seems you would likely need to lower your settings with a duel core 2.5 and only 4 Gb of memory. also you may want to make sure all the unnecessary background stuff is not running and setting your virtual memory could help as well.

well the game lags where ever I play it (CO-OP, Internet, Local, Small maps, Large maps) it's like there is something with the game it self rather than the system or the networkOfficer_Dufus wrote:Maybe there is more going on.

Kaspersky is great but really really heavy, the only lighweight av you can find is Nod32 wich is also powerfull.hussamsoft wrote:I use Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 which is updated daily so its most unlikely to have malware or viruses

I do feel however you just don't have the system to run such a large game. it's asking a lot from that notebook.
so lag is likely not going to go away..

Re: PR 1.1.6.0 LAG!
Game isn't that large, it is an old game from 2005 that has minimum specs of a 1.7GHz processor and 512MB of RAM. Compared to modern games like BF3, BF2 uses almost no resources. His specs are similar to mine except his is only single core, and mine is also XP not Win 7. Prior to 1.0, say .98, i was running at the worst 66fps. Since 1.0 I haven't cracked 66FPS. Since 1.0 its good for me to get 20FPS I normally average out to less than 15FPS.KillerYaNk wrote:as I said, wasn't trying to knock it.

If I had to guess current lag in PR relates to either the launcher, which would be strange and almost not make sense, or effects. Since 1.0 lighting/shadows have been stuck on to minimum settings to prevent visibility cheating, if you ever played Kokan with lighting on low or off you know what I am talking about. The effects were also greatly upgraded from nice simple ones to complicated ones. Personally I hate the new effects, on low settings explosions are deceptively small and on high settings effects are too resource intensive and causes very very very bad lag or crashing.

Re: PR 1.1.6.0 LAG!
How do you play with 20 fps? That's super low.
The lag I get on a crowded server really isn't frame rate related. It's like the game will skip around. It'll be ok and then it'll start getting choppy. It is much different than a low frame rate issue, for sure.

Re: PR 1.1.6.0 LAG!
I don't play I die a lot. I can only shoot at long range or do background things like mortars. High server population in a small area of a map doesn't help either then my FPS dip below what the games FPS gauge can read.Officer_Dufus wrote:How do you play with 20 fps? That's super low.

Jesus, that sounds like hell.
I thought I was running and outdated system (which I am)
But I plan to continue chugging on. I don't like to replace things if they are still functioning. And with technology, it is a never ending battle to stay updated.

Re: PR 1.1.6.0 LAG!
I just found out that this is a CPU-related problem, from testing, I saw that any increase in the first core graph causes the lag, so probably the less cores you had the more better your pc will handle, obviously that means that PR is not a Multi-core supported game, in my case the i5-2450m is a duel core hyperthreaded to four threads on the task manager, which ironically worsens the problem, although my cpu handle multi-core supported games well, a single thread would be less than avg handling the game and the system processes,
I guess you could fix the lag if you: disable hyperthreading from the bios, killing every single process that wouldn't lead to a shutdown, upgrade to a more beefy cpu (even if it's a multi core one the more beefy the more a single core/thread could handle)
but what drives me mad, that this problem wasn't present in pre 1.0 PR versions

Double check that it isn't using the HD integrated graphics when you're playing, as that's been an issue for a bunch of people thus far.hussamsoft wrote:but what drives me mad, that this problem wasn't present in pre 1.0 PR versions![]()

If there isn't an obvious solution on your end, like the one Psyrus pointed out, don't bother. It has been like this since 1.0 has been released and it's not getting any better.
