Small Downloads increases drasticly PING

This week i joined a server while downloading some torrents - the PING was 130 while i usually get 30-40 on that server.
Now we could think that the downloads were eating all the bandwidth but here is the thing:
-I was downloading at 3 Kb/s while my bandwidth is about 4,5 to 5 Mb/s.

Any help would be appreciated!!!
