like for instance make the hotel on jalalabad a map in its own right ala warlord palace?

it would be so good for extraction missions, eg. mec have taken a pilot hostage on the top floor or have a laptop with intel on it.

usmc would start in the foyer and have to fight up maybe 4-5 floors? to extract whatever?

i mean since jalalabad is pretty war torn to start with the hotel doesnt need loads of detail, like no need for palms fountains chandaliers and stuff like that, just basic beds in a few rooms and a few portraits of mec leaders here and there.

there wouldnt be a need for lots of rooms either since the hotel looks pretty small width wise from the outside.

but maybe include some ground around the hotel so you could use grapling hooks to latch onto blown up parts of the hotel wall?

and maybe include a lift some stairs and a small conceled cavity with a lader in it to keep the mec guessing?

i just think it would really be nice to have a map like that, since there is only really 1 and thats pretty smallish and not a dedeicated building map. (warlord)

Yeah, sure you can make an entire map inside a building. You have to be careful about how you make it though, otherwise you'll get a lot of lag.

For i.e. the lag on the Leviathan mission ?

you just make a small map, model the building or w/e in max, then chop it into lots of sections before you exsport it. then load up your map, and piace each section of the buildign together. It would work quite well, but really, if you want indor close combat BF2 is pretty rubbish for it. Best engine is HL2/CSS for this sort of stuff ;)

How about some big indoor areas? Like a lobby, a couple of big hallways and a huge luxury suite being the main contested areas?

Maybe have an important flag in the middle of a big room, almost devoid of cover, so you can get huge shoot-outs...

he never said source was bad at outdoor maps, just that its alot better at indoor than bf2. Which is true.

I dont think this would be that enjoyable to be honest. Would probably be abit spammy, but the answer to the question is yes, but it would take alot of modelling work.

Sounds a bit like a counter strike scenario if you ask me. Where is the opportunity for squad based tactics apart from stacking up next to doorways? I guess this is the same reason I don't really enjoy bottleneck maps - not as many different ways to play it. On another topic, how many bottlenecks would there be in the desert?

People/vehicles on statics means lag - if you got everyone on the dam in Kubra Dam, it'd be laggy as hell. (Did that once, urgh).

so it would lag like hell

by the way leviathen ruled as a map- but only once the mec got inside the carrier. other wise its just a really boring chopper fest since the usmc have it way to easy on that map.

having said that, that map is sick for pirate battles, 3 man team to a boat and about 3-4 boats per side. that was probably the most fun ive ever had on a bf2 map ever. :( sadly it was a one off.
